Bucket Seats

I have a cinq and ive got a few questions

1. If I get some non tilting seats and keep my back seats will this have any effect on the MOT?

2. If i get harnesses and dont get a roll cage and i going to die?

3. Would universal tilting subframes help?

Just want to know more about the legal side of things really

Ta

Re: Bucket Seats

Universal frames of any description would probably need modding in some way to fit properly.

Re: Bucket Seats

if you crash your car, theres the possiblity of dying anway. the whole harness argument is that if you rolled the car and the roof caved in, you wouldnt be able to bend out of the way because the harnesses keep you upright etc.

although tbh, i think the last thing you would be thinking of if you rolled your car would be "quick, gotta bend out of the way of he roof"... I think it would be more like "ARRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!"

1. If I get some non tilting seats and keep my back seats will this have any effect on the MOT? [Answer ] I cant see how this will affect your MOT but why not get the tilting ones

3. Would universal tilting subframes help? [Answer] I'm quite sure there ARE subframes available for your car so why buy a universal one there are seats for sale in the classified that both slide and tilt

Re: Bucket Seats

TBH on the safety front the std 3point lap belt thing is crap, it often does more harm then good unless you are wearing it right, and its a saab (the threshold hold point is really low, so locks you into your seat ), then you will die anyway,

everycar in my opinion should come out of the factory with a good seat with a proper FIA type 5point belt and people should know how to use it, with one of them you can survive accidents with around 5times the G force and ferrosity, bearing in mind the human brain can survive an acceleration (+ or -) or around 300g, for 0.015sec, a modern ford mondeo in a good crash (technically speaking) will manage to absorb 150g or something like that from the body, can't remember the exact limbo but basically you need a 5point harness

I should really know all this by now, got a vehicel engineering exam on thursday!
