so the mrs is stopped in a narrow road, cars parked either side, waiting for a car coming towards her to pull in to allow her to continue, when mr stuttgart to her left decides to punt it out of his space, misjudges the zero gap totally, and winds up running his tank down the entire nearside of the baby......luckily for all concerned, no injuries, other than to the panda and merc (you decide who got it worse) mr stuttgart put his hands up straight away and accepted full liabilty and costs (which he signed for!), well he had to the 8 witnesses all said he was at fault

what the photo doesnt show is the reason the tyre is flat, his bumper caried on (ie foot flat to the floor!) all the way to the rear bumper which is also gouged and tore the tyre off its seating, scratching the alloy in the process

monday will be spent getting quotes for a lot of work

Aw that's a bummer Jai, when it ain't your fault the inconvience is the most annoying part.

I expect the bill for that to be £1.5k or maybe higher.

Liam

Yeah I'd say so Jai, EPR going roughly is about £700 for the doors and new rim and tyre, now rear panel that could fix the dent without taking half the car to peices so watch they don't try filler!

yes, about half my size........

He looks about the same height as the Panda  . Were you in the car at the time?

Careful that any repairs don't damage the galvanising or in a couple of years you might have rust on your hands.

Also what's the condition of the alloys like? Will a new one match?

Bad luck all round though. Insurance will go up too even though it's a no fault claim.

For a hire car, unless offered by insurance give helphire a ring.

oh its def going back to a fiat garage so will get the bodywork stamp in the book, as for the damage, a witness said he just turned the wheel and shot out of his space, a little sooner could have been head on/front offset......

what i still dont get, even having spoken to him, i turned up after fal was very very upset, was how he could have not seen the car, right next to him!

Uniform or not I would have slid over the bonnet of an adjacent car and scarpered!

Yeah, some folks are blind when it comes to driving but can see when out of the car, selective sight I call it.

Please tell me you didnt move and the gap between you and the red merc was there all along because looking at that you could get a sodding bus through there. The gap is HUGE!

Love to see him proving the point that its a jerk in a merc.

But on the damage from switch it round i reckon the Panda would have been just as bad the front of cars are designed to crumple big time a 9mph frontal impact will completely wipe out the front bumper of any current model fiat front end. same with most cars all to do with the crumple zones. Proving the point here mercs are designed the same way it did what it was supposed to do.

And to be honest his will probably be cheaper to repair your looking at £1,500 or so hes looking at £300 for a new bumper plus spraying and fitting say another £300.

bad luck jai, all that matters is people are ok. and the fact you got all of work paid for is good too, get him to pay for hire car too!!

when i had my accident with my door, "driveassist" sorted me out good and proper with a car, they even delivered it to me (ON TIME!!) and said theyd pick it up when i was happy with my repairs, which was about two week later than it shoulda been. they phoned twice a week to check on how things were going (although the young lady that phoned obviously wanted my sausage ) and even when the car went back to them and i had the punto back they rang at least twice more to check it was all ok, and last week sent me a letter saying they could cover anything else theyd missed. ie cost of estimates :)woot: £41.28 back:D)

hope it doesnt take as long as mine did and that you get it all fixed soon(y)

bad luck man!!

insurance sucks, even though it was 100% their fault you still have to pay for being there, even though its protected (?)

I find most merc drivers are OK, its the modern BM drivers, they are still all aholes, although I may become one very soon (320 tourer mmmmmm another free car)

What a bummer. :(
At least if Mrs T was stationary there's no doubt about who was at fault.
The damage will mount up cost-wise:

New doors inc. paiting and fitting
New alloys
New tyres
New engine
New exhaust
New induction system
Lowered suspension
