Hi,

Just bought an MP3 player and realised that all my MP3s on my hard drive are all over the place with regards to tags. Any software I have such as WMV or winamp only lets you edit the tags one song at a time.

E.g. To tag all songs from an album with the album name takes ages - and I have around 15gb of music!

So, looked at available tagging software and, for your information, the best I've found is Ultra Tag Editor (http://www.atelio.com/ultra-tag-editor/)
30 day trial but should be enough to sort out your collection ;)

It's great. You can assign tags to multiple files at once, but crucially you can also create tags from the filenames.
E.g.
02 - Letters to You - Finch - 250ml.mp3

You can run that through delimiters and assign the variables to the tags.
So delimit by " - "

Track = %1
Title = %2
Artist = %3
Album = %4

Makes it a matter of seconds to correctly tag an entire set of albums provided they all have the same filename convention (i.e. probably ripped with the same software)

Highly recommended and I KNOW that some of you have lots and lots of music.
Hope it helps.

Cheers for the link, I've been meaning to get around to organising my music for a long long time, this will make it so much easier, again.. cheers

It might not be quite as good, but in iTunes you can rename/retag multiple items, and if you select to "Keep my Music folder organised" it'll rename and moves files accordingly.
