On the font page of the Daily Mail a biker wrongly convicted of speeding mph 46 and he took it to court and proved that he wasnt the camera companies have now admitted that gatsos and hand held cameras CAN give incorrect readings this took place in Cardiff where I live and the motoring organisations AA/RAC are calling for the camera network to be shut down . PNL reporting from sunny s.wales.

How did he manage to prove he wasn't speeding? :chin:

My guess if Gatso's take two pictures then surely using both those pics and calculating the correct distance and time between each photo it's just a case of distance (converted to miles) / time (converted to hours)

In our local paper this week it showed some guy getting a summons for exceeding the speed limit - at 800mph  also 'caught' by a camera.

Pffft Top Gear proved over about 170mph it won't trigger the camera :D

Imagine presenting that evidence in a court

Thats correct this is how he did it and he had to take it to court before they would produce the photos (n) he said just think how many people dont question it and just pay up they are raking in the money

And collects three points on their licenses, very damaging for a new driver on the so called 'probation period' where 6 points = revoked license.

They've known for ages they're faulty...

Those megans with the full sun roof were being caught out at standstill in front of the camera.

People have proven the speeds they were going by calculating distance from traffic lights at standstill to get off.

The police will not shut them down.. the number of false cases (compared to the amount of money they get) it wouldn't be financialy viable to shut the network down.

lol, the number they get is so insignificant compared to the real world, they might aswell refuse the money.

What annoys me about speed camera's is that the punishment doesn't match the crime when you compare it to other offences. If you see the fines some people get for serious offences it is silly.

I think it is a worse offence to have no insurance or MOT and in the past they didn't even check these if you were caught on camera speeding, which is ridiculous. I presume they check cars on the insurance database now when they issue a ticket.

Yes I agree someone commites a serious crime and gets a slap on the wrist[community service] which they never turn up for you go and scratch a car belonging to a judge youle probably get 6months :bang:

LOL...
commit rape, theft or vandalism, and you can get a slap on the wrist, or at worst sent on detention to spain...

go 4mph over the speedlimit at 3am (when the damn roads are totally empty) and I dont even think i was going 4 over the speedlimit... and you not only get fined £60, but you also get fixed penalties which increase your insurance exponentially.. Nice, do it twice and you get banned (in first 2 yrs) and then you have to pay stupid amounts of money to get your license back.... nice evenly balanced.
