But it's really true?
I've just heard that Edd China is going to leave the show because the production has the intention to cut the workshop time, repairing process, etc.... to save money.

If they really want to save money, I would advice them to close the show.

I'll never watch WD again if they reduce/cut the workshop time (I've always thought it was not enough).

I wonder, is there one of you guys who watch WD only for the Mark Brewer part????

Mark Evans, where are you??

Ach! it's only telly. :) I don't mind anything aimed at the petrol head, mind you some of the Yank programs does my head in with their American patter, everything is "awesome" or really "cool" Feeble attempts at humor & so on..(n)

But that's a different story...:)

The whole point of the show was to show diy car enthusiast how to do jobs themselves, let's be honest no one watched it for brewer.

I think the show has run its course now anyway, they can't keep finding different cars to do as there is a finite amount of interesting cars.

It will turn into another American car show churning out dull and uninteresting 70s muscle cars that all look the same and use the same engines.

It's a shame but given they want to cut down what is pretty much the only authentic part of the show I can see why he's gone.

Best of luck to him, sure he won't be short of work.

My facebook has been all over this. I think that says something about how sad I am!

Ed China says one thing and Mike Brewer says another. I think I believe Ed's story as all these American shows are so fake and all about pretend drama etc and apparently that's what the production company want. (I'm not saying WD wasn't fake btw! All TV shows are. Some are more than others)

I have heard Mike Brewer has got death threats! Really? Because of a minority TV show? I know it's syndicated but it's not X-Factor ratings!

I really think some need to get out & about more often...:D

Regarding the threats(allegedly) if this is true, unfortunately it just shows how downhill/sad some of society has become, wrapped up in their own selfish wee world exacting anger on anyone who dares to annoy/disagree with them, cowardly hiding behind the technology of today. I'll stop now as you guess this sort of behaviour p1sses me off.

In the later series there were a lot of instances of overly dramatic problems that really weren't problems and turned out to be something very simple, I think this was the beginning of the American influence of wanting to add some drama.

If you ever watched the program with the Canadian guy and the east London mechanic Bernie, they always had something happen like a really rare piece of glass would get broken or a freshly painted panel would get dented, with moments to spare before the reveal.

This was something that was definitely creeping in to WD and will only get worse I'm sure

I remember the windscreen drop...not only was his acting terrible but it was clearly the windscreen from the scrap car they visit in the same episode. At the end of the show the original windscreen is back in the car complete with a sticker that was there when they removed it..

That program was just so contrived/irritating & just really bad. All of these shows have some silly acting/pretendy bits in them, everyone should know that:rolleyes: but that Bernie came over as sad/mad & just so annoying. Sad git that I became, I used to turn the sound off & watch all the shiney bits being put together..:D

The thing that makes that even worse, is if you watch different American car programs you'll see that almost every one of them has a ultra rare glass "incident" somewhere along the way

In terms of American shows I only tend to watch the stuff on motor trends YouTube channel for that reason. With the exception of diesel brothers (follows a shop building coal rollers), because that's like watching one of those documentaries where they follow a tribe in a jungle that is unaware of modern life. It is bizarre..especially the bits where you're not sure if they know how weirdly homoerotic the scene is. That could be the target audience though people for whom "Deliverance" is a way of life.

Yes, I've seen something of that show, unwatchable! The only episode I've seen (eager to watch some real work to be done), two guys from a transport/tow service they weren't happy with the payment, so they throw down the car from the trailer upside down.......at this point, I prefer watch again "Commando" with Arnold S.

I honestly feel like Mighty Car Mods is about the only honest car show out there.

Never managed to successfully get into that I assume later on they start doing builds or more interesting stuff. After they appeared on Roadkill (which you should have a look at if you haven't) I looked up their stuff on YouTube but seemed to be a little dry. Fitting a stereo to a Suzuki Alto didn't exactly have me gripped.

Tried Roadkill but couldn't get into it. The thing I like about MCM is that they do things that regular folks could/would want to do. Admittedly some of the older videos were a bit more basic but more recently they've done full vehicle build/rebuild videos.

I tend to start at video 1...so yeah it was old. When they were on roadkill they had a Subaru WRX ute guessing they built that! Probably try again next time start after they've had some time to get into the swing of it.

Roadkill is very American...and Tbf later on is starting to get corporate. "We've brought this car back to life by fitting twice it's value in bolt on speed parts from our sponsor..." well done have a biscuit...but they do have enough variety to be interesting, but only if you like American cars.

Notice how Brewer never gets his come-uppance when wheeling and dealing - as if a chancer like him always gets his own way. You never see a "no-deal" such as happens in real life. Car S.O.S. works better for me.

The more recent shows had Brewer looking at cars that didn't work out. We are left to assume he spends a long while looking for the ideal project car.

There have been a few failures that made a loss but not many.

If you want projects check this out - 26 episodes and counting. If it takes much longer, they'll be dumping the lump and going electric.

Not quite true, they generally fake the endings when they sell the cars, there have been many stories of stooges or actors being brought in or just use one of the production staff to pose as a buyer.

A few years back the cars used to go on the website of the program for sale, but usually not until after the program had aired. And famously on this forum the panda they wrecked went up for sale many times over before it eventually sold.

As they say, don’t believe everything you see on TV

Back when it all started years ago it was much more interesting when they took a £200-300 scrapper and Ed put it back together for very little money, doing the body work himself with spray cans and working with what he had.

I don’t bother watching it anymore, far too fake and all the cars are some ridiculous priced old American car. Mike Brewer showed his full colours when he Dumped Ed to chase money from US tv Companies. In my opinion that program has been done to death now.
