Well, not quite killed it - knocked it forward and sent the cover flying.
It's now all scratched. :(

My wife was in a que of traffic and a first response vehicle (estate car) came whizzing past with 2&B on squeezing between her and an oncoming car.

As much as I consider what they are doing, hitting my car is not part of it.
Now I have the hassle of writing in with pics & a bill.......
 
Re-read the details in the back of your Highway Code. Specifically rule 286;https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-highway-code/breakdowns-and-incidents-274-to-287
If involved in a collision, you must stop. The other driver did not.
Unable to exchange details at the scene, your wife must now report the matter to the police, as the paramedic will likely already have done. That gets you the details you need to make the claim for the repair.
Not reporting it, may be an offence, despite being the victim, and prevent or delay any claim.
