Hello.
We are working on a new OBD II tracker/scanner. Our device is almost finished but we still have time to add new functions or change some of the existing ones. I want your advice to make it better if it is interesting for you to participate in the process of creating a new device for your car.
Main functions of the device:
- reads engine error codes;
- shows the data from dashboard indicators;
- real-time 24/7 vehicle monitoring;
- location tracking;
- notification when vehicle enters or leaves a geo-fence;
- driver's behavior analysis;
- accident notification;
- 3d reconstruction of the accident;
- mobile application; Which other functions would you find useful? What functions do you think are unnecessary?
I will be thankful for any ideas. Feel free to say what you think.

That's bonkers, how does it do all that?! :eek::eek:
ODB interface, GPS receiver, GSM (mobile phone) module and "a few lines of code"

It's nothing magic or new as far as I can see from the description.

Hi,
No problem. Might be a bit expensive as a one-off though

Seriously, this is not a difficult task. You could do it with off the shelf hardware. I'm an electronics design engineer and built a GPS data logger (for an aircraft) twenty years ago, have worked with CAN data and used radio data transmission for work and hobby for 30 years, including the system thet transmitted data from the fastest car in the world. I've still got that in the garage somewhere (the telemetry system not the car

). I would imagine that money will also be made selling a subscription service to access the data. Google OnStar.

It is really usefull for people. We make the device for car owners. Whith this device people can easily share their cars to their teen drivers. This device helps to find a car on a parking lot, sends notifications in case of an accident or if the vehicle is being towed away so you users take action immediately. With this device you can see your car on Livemap wherever in the world it is. The device can be used as a wireless hotspot, so passengers can surf the web, watch video, listen to music in the car while on the go.
So what do you thisnk about our device?

Hey guys!
Soon we launch our Kickstarter campaign. There will be available all information about our project and our team. This project will be very interesting.

So does all this come with Optimus Prime and the Autobots too Sam Witwicky ???
I guess you are offering this to ALL car forums as I've noticed your posts on Jaguar forum.com too.
Could be my wary side but this just sounds like too much of a scam to me, let's face it you can buy ECU diagnostics and have a proper tracker fitted by professionals.
Can you tell I watch a lot of Watchdog and rip off programs that warn about dodgy deals.

Hmm,
one of the things they say is indication of a scam is poor language skills,
"Hey guys!

Nothing thatt cant be done with a tracker, ODB reader and software, GPS and cell phone. Not much point in having a tracker in the OBD port, tha thief has to unplug it to plug their security defeating interface in

You can buy a tracker for about £17 off eBay (the same kit professional companies are selling for hundreds) and it does all the gps features stated above.

When you're driving you already have enough to concentrate on so all the extra read outs (how will you display them) are just a distraction.

Finally, you should guard your OBD port well as once accessed it's very easy to overcome security devices, unlock doors program new keys or cause malicious problems such as overriding brakes and altering other electronic systems. It's actually possible to cause serious damage to the engine just by screwing the ecu settings about. The point it you should never leave anything permanently plugged in to the OBD port otherwise you open it up to all sorts of abuse. And put your car and yourself at risk.
