Ok i know this is a long shot but a few months back i remember seeing a link to a site that had a function where you put in a reg and it told you some info about that car like where it is regestered, when and things like that. I am sure it was on this site but i could be wrong. Does anyone have that link or know what thread i have seen it in?? As it happens my uncle had his astra stolen a couple of weeks ago and because it has come over from irland the insurance company are playing about.(didn't play about when taking his money tho) One problem they are having is what the english reg it should be as it is still on irish plates. (Bit of a long story)
Oh also anyone in the manchester area please keep an eye out for a gold colour astra 1.6i duo on irish plates. Cheers.

in fact you dont need to sign up, you go to www.rac.co.uk click on car buying, then vehicle search (dvla) on other services sector (y)

is this what you mean???

Just found it on the rac website cheers. Will have fun listening to him shout down the phone again tomorrow. From this experiance i wouldn't recomend norwhich union. they never call when they say they are gonna, they told him that he was only getting £150 for his glasses and system, so he read his policy and it turns out he is entitled to up to £150 for his glasses and up to £400 for his system, so after that argument he got told he could have £90 for his glasses and that they would valuate his system. How?? They don't even know what type of system was in it. Next they told him that they couldn't valuate his car as it is a limited edition so there is no records in the glass book. I found it straight away on parkers. Then they say they don't know what the british equivelant reg is, they have the log book so they should know from the date of first reg. I will stick to quinn i think. Thick as turd. Cheers for the help.

I'm sure it can't be assigned a British reg until you request it when re-taxing the vehicle.

Do they want the year of the car?

They sound as thick as mince, hope your Unc had better luck.

They keep patching him through to india call centre. What do they know about british cars?? He called the dvla when he first got it and they told him he didn't need to re register it if he didn't want to. When he got the quote they found the car straight away yet when he comes to claim on it they have no idea about the car. Idiots. " things never to do. Buy an astra cause they are so easy to take and join norwhich union cause they are thick.
