i was watching qvc the other night and they were selling this product that you poured half in your fuel tank and half in with your oil and as you drove around it cleared out the whole system.

it showed diagrams that removed all sludge and cleared up ther injections / pistons a right treat :) anyway, claims a big performance boost.

my car has been making this (on and off) growling noise now for ages, and i wondered if it was clogged bits'n'pieces so basically, question is does this stuff work, and can someone recommend a good one?

cheers!

Hi Ben,

I've tried using Redex, Slick 50 and 10K boost.
Redex and Slick 50 Engine Treatments you pour in with your petrol, and can't say i noticed any difference in any area of the car's performance/general running.

The 10k boost comes in a can. You take out the air filter/induction kit and spray it in through the engine's air intake. It's suppost to clean carbon build up and general rubbish from the inside of the engine. You get clouds of smoke pouring out of the exhaust while your spraying it in. It's quite expensive and again i didn't notice any difference afterwards. It's suppost to work better on older cars, ones over 10 years old.

Would be interested to know the name of the product you saw if you can remember it?

The description of your car sounds interesting, you got any pics?

Injector cleaners really don't work. The injectors can only be really cleaned by removing them and having them sonically cleaned and flush with high pressure water. As injection systems have a fuel filter prior to the fuel rail this the injectors, it is unlikely that any debris from the tank get to the nozzels. These companies all make great claims, similar to those stupid ignition things they try and sell at the motor show. Dirty injectors are rarely the cause of problems.
