Hi guys,

A bit of a weird question here, but does anyone know about repairing a cracked fish tank?

The tank was dropped and landed on a corner.

I'm thinking a sealant, but I am not too sure if it will work on the corner. The crack is on the bottom pane.

Any ideas?

Anyone know of any fish tank repair places in London?

I'd have though the plate would need replacing given that it is cracked so far across. I certainty wouldn't trust some sealant to hold back 20 litres of water with a crack like that.

youtube says silicone, but since its at the bottom.
, id replace the glass, looks easy, uncles done it before.

some people say use any old silicone, but im sure some are toxic.

This is new territory for me so where would I get the glass from?

How big is the tank? Simple glass tanks are fairly inexpensive so might be cheaper to just buy another if it's not too big

The bottom glass (the one that broke) is 30cm by 60cm (0.5cm thick).
From memory i think it held 78 litres.

Have you looked on gumtree local to you, I had a quick glance and similar sized tanks (60x30) are as cheap as £5 on there (local to me)

Not yet, but i will. I did check ebay, it looks waay cheaper to buy a replacement then get this one fixed.

you can get fish safe rtv silicone sealant it kept coming up when i was looking for some rtv the other day.
