This is heartbreaking. Unfortunately the RSPCA seem to only do stuff that will get them publicity, I've heard countless bad stories about them. I used to work for a dog rehoming centre with a different organisation, and we were always taking phone calls from people saying the RSPCA would not come out to them for one thing or another. My advice is to seek smaller local places. Charities seem to forget what they stand for when they get too big. On the flipside, these bad experiences overshadow the good stuff that they are doing. They helped secure the animal wellfare act, and do bring charges to thousands of people being cruel to animals. But like I said these are profile gaining things while ordinary concerned people get turned away.

Thanks all.
Well...she's still with us yesterday she looked weak not much movement from her
And she wasn't interested in feeds much.
This morning she's improved ..she's crying out for a feed every hour now.
And she has a crawl/trying to walk on her legs..

So she's gained some strength,
I say she's a she.. because its a moody sod.

I've lost my thermal hat too..she's decided this is her new bed/nest.
I've made up a heat pad too. 12v
Central heating is on full /so we all have to cook for a while..

My old cat .. Scooby who is 10 keeps going in and has a look-in on the kitten

OldHammer, May I say well done for doing your best in rescuing the cat and kittens.

I hate many road users attitudes to animals on the road (and some peoples attitudes to animals in general). I am touched that you have cared so much and are now bringing up the wee kitten.

Do you plan on keeping the kitten if it reaches a re-homeable age?

^ sometimes animals have no road sense, so ican understand how some can be seen by the side of the curb..this is upsetting to see tho,

in this case..the cat was in the middle of the road when ifirst seen the cat ithought it was a stray eating a mouse/rat.

the car came from the other side of the road (wrong side) and took the cat out. (it was done delibertly)
the rat/mouse turned out to be a kitten, (this one died 2mins after igot it into the warmth) :(

my view is this cat was in middle of giving birth wether it be in someones garden/shed and she was disturbed, ithink she was moving the 2 kittens to safety ..
she wouid of had a litter of about 4-5

ive had cats before comeinto my garden and use my shed and have kittens ive left them alone and theyve moved on after-3-4 weeks,

The kitten will be staying with us, ive no plans to rehome it,
it will become a house cat, it wont have its instincts so it wont be let outside,

Well sad news,

the little one passed away at 8: 05 pm,

i will place her with her mother and the other unlucky ones,

Sad news but given the last couple of days I did wonder if it might go this way,

Hope you're all ok and not to upset by the whole thing, it seems to have been a pretty horrific experience, but it does seem the tough little bugger didn't want to give up and gave it his best, as did you so be proud at what you did and that you tried.

And have a drink and remember tomorrow is another day

Just bear in mind that the car may not have seen the cat, they can run out into traffic very fast.
