Yes.

13 plate. 92k

Loss of oil pressure.

Recovery garage quoted £4k..!!

1242 fire .. £150

875 TA.......£500

999 FORD..... THE £500 BUYS YOU A DAMAGED 'SHORT' ENGINE.

I Get the impression the motors tend to be fragile.
The nieces car is 1 owner..and regular servicing.. but lost oil pressure on M6

Being a turbo..plenty of stresses.. and potential failure points.

Not seen many failures in the 2 cyl fiats but the 4x cyl ones have compression failures. ( shim gaskets)

If you've seen it yourself fair enough but as that car was built by Fiat in Poland I have never seen references to it ever having anything other than Fiat motors.

Every day is a school day, if that's what you've got for sure then I'm wrong but that engine is listed in 0 places as being fitted to that car and a national search on auto trader for 1.0 Ford Kas also brings back 0. If it's just what the garage has said I would be checking it.

NOT what I was anticipating either..

Not the best pic.. but you can see the 3 plug cap/ coils toward bulkhead..

Car appears worth fixing..as still selling for @£4k

Nieces ford ka needs an engine.
Priced up the fitting of a FIRE engine for it.

Turns out its an Ecoboost 3 cyl.

Prices are massively higher than the comparable FIAT Twinair

You may want to check your facts... Ford never fitted the Ecoboost engine into a mk2 Ford KA. It's a Fiat 1242cc Fire engine.

The picture is a 1.0 ecoboost, yes. Is that the actual engine bay of the aforementioned KA?

Is the engine seized? Are you sure it needs a new engin?. if it was just an oil pump failure there is a chance it is not a total wreck. There seems to be a reluctance to actually repair engines these days because of labour costs, but surely it's worth dropping the sump and having a look?
It's certainly a Ford 1.0 3 cly EcoBoost engine from the pictures, but all the published info says it does not exist in the 2nd generation Ka. What is the body style 2nd gen Ka or Ka+? Maybe it was a press or dealer demo car registered before the official release.

Have you put the VIN into Fords online system to see what it says about the car (it's a useful system and comes up with the full build standard, options etc) Of particular interest is where it was made (2nd Gen Italy, Ka+ Brazil or India)

The reason it has not got a FIRE engine is because it is NOT a Ka, it is a Fiesta.
Time to play 'spot the difference'. Pics below of my current Fiesta, registered July 2017!

Alright then mate... believe what you want... Ford clearly state they never fitted an ecoboost engine into a KA. But you own a Fiat, so naturally you know everything...

Arrogant prick.
