Hmmmm... Take this off topic and link up car manufacturers with some common things...

Start with a link with Ford to Fiat and so on....

The KA is based on the Fiat 500, the 1.3 diesel is used by both linking through to Vauxhall who also use the same engine as do Suzuki in the Swift, Suzuki and Fiat worked together to produce the Sedici and SX4.

The Fiat Scudo is made by PSA group in France, the 2.0 Diesel engine is the same engine used in the Ford Focus and other ford models and PSA models also in Volvos to.

I can go on linking manufacturers if you want????

Toyota have a link with BMW in that the first BMW used the Toyota 1.4 d4d engine and recently Toyota now use BMW Diesel engines like the 1.6 engine in the Verso and Anensis. Previously Mini used the 1.6hdi engine that was also used in the Fiat Scudo van. The original 1.6 petrol engine in the Mini Cooper was designed by Chrsyler and started life at some point in the Neon.....

If you want to link nearly all manufacturers easily...PSA 1560cc diesel. Been in everything from the Bini to the Volvo S80.

Other holiday destinations are available, I've heard that Center Parcs is popular, or to the beach, the zoo, etc.

Car goes in for it's service and mot tomorrow, not concerned about that. But I'm booked for a courtesy car and have a country house wedding to go to in the afternoon...please god don't let it be a Mitsubishi Mirage again people will think I'm delivering pizza.

Good news; all the welding is done just in time for the rain to start.


Bad news; the pattern part was so "far out" it belonged at Woodstock rather than on a Panda so I've had to use filler.


The filler dates back to when I was fitting the Sebring kit to my MGB GT in 2004 so you get an idea of how much I like the stuff.

Took the Panda Fizz for M.O.T this morning. Half an hour later VOSA reports the new updated system has shut down.

The M.O.T place is new for me but the same one the Fizz has been going to all her life. With a repair bill of over £400 for the last failure (brake consumables and front tyres mostly) and the repairs I've made she should pass first time of asking right?

"Well it's been a few weeks since the car was here so it could fail on something else?"

While the conversation happened the head mechanic was on the phone to a customer saying the computer said this, this and that are wrong with your car (1996 Renault Clio) and he'll have to order parts in. :bang:

I hate new M.O.T guys. These appear to be about as trust worthy as Nick Leeson. I hope it fails on something they repaired last time of asking I'm sure VOSA and the Police would be interested in a fraud investigation and audit.

This is why I'm very thankful we've got friends who deal with MOTs and such. Means there's no messing around. They even book in at short notice. Don't know what I'll do if I ever need to go elsewhere.

I only went there because it will match all the old M.O.T's that came with the car that way.

She failed on welding. Not welding I had done but welding I had missed.

Re-booked for Friday afternoon as it's my brothers 50th tomorrow and I'm working night shift so it'll have to wait until Friday morning.

Oh and an exhaust rubber fell off on the way there. Bloody Potholes! :bang:

Six years ago today my mighty Panda Parade was killed. I was hoping to get the Fizz on the road to mark the occasion but ce la vie.

Well if you take the car back "several weeks later" you can't expect them not to want to do a full MOT
