The point is if you have a £30k budget to buy a new car you're not going to buy an £8k Punto.

As for puntofan01 criticising every car on the road with a blind belief that his GP is the best, if fine if you actually have more experience of other cars than once moving a VW polo and learning to drive in an Peugeot 206

I actually like lots of cars, you merely happen to disagree, and give me snide remarks for it. Yes, I like my Grande more than anything else, but plenty of people are like that: there's people on here who love classic Pandas or 90s Cinquecentos. Some of us aren't snobs, and just love driving small cars: doesn't mean we have low standards.

As you've proven many times before you like cars based on other people's opinions of them and what they look like. You've never had hands on experience of the cars you like to condemn, or indeed those you claim to like. You slate fords yet 100,000 people in the UK buy new ones every year. You say toyotas lack character based on nothing more than what they look like, despite that every car Toyota makes its a world apart in terms of quality and reliability from anything fiat make. You harp on about how fantastic your grande looks you take the **** out of the golf and how it's not changed in 40 years even though it was originally styled by the same man.......? This is the sort of ignorance I'm getting at.

There are plenty of good little cheap cars in the world it has nothing to do with snobbery, you seem to always forget I own a grande, and compared to my mk2 it's a god awful car. I once owned a Cinquecento it was great fun to drive, I also owned a mk1 Punto which was a really great little car. As pointed out if it wasn't so small I would have seriously looked at a new panda 4x4. contrary to popular belief I do actually like fiats, but have an appreciation that they do get things wrong an are no more immune to making a crap car than VW or ford or Mercedes as proven by the VW Lupo and the Ford Fusion.
The point is here you need to stop preaching about what you think is good or bad while you continue to have no experience in the area you're choosing to comment.

no open your eyes i pointed out just because a lot of people do some thing it don't make that thing good or right so dont play the numbers game,
you are on a fiat forum its full of people who like their fiat for one reason or another stop being a fool if you want to praise other makes of car go do it on a forum for them makes of car and stop slagging people off for loving their fiat on a site designed for them, we get enough of that every where else.

Just to clarify it was a rhetorical question. You DID! make a comparison with rape and buying a new ford. I don't really care what spin you try to put on it, it was a pretty disgusting statement to have made.
 
We are on a fiat forum full of fiat owners of which I am one, but most people on here are also car lovers and when a member continually puts other cars down with no knowledge or experience then I am going to point that out. In addition fiat are more than capable of making some crap cars as well as good and on a fiat forum that a point of discussion as well.

Nothing is further from the truth: if my opinions on cars were based on the opinions of other people, I'd be driving a fiesta. Of course I judge a car by it's looks: if I like the design and it's acceptable to drive, I'd buy it. Had the Grande have been a pig to drive last year, I would've been gutted, but I would've bought something else. And yes, I commented on Toyotas lacking character, I never said they weren't endlessly reliable. With regards to my comment about the golf, the point I was making was that you'd criticised the age of the Punto and 500 designs, yet you're buying a car that's meant to look like a modern version of a 40 year old design. And I'm well aware that Giugiaro designed the mk1 golf: as someone who loves classic cars, I like the mk1 golf! I never said I didn't!

You say you like small cars, yet you told me that I'd set my bar very low because I'd alway wanted a Grande Punto. :confused: I am well aware that Fiat can make a balls up as much as any other company: look at the Sedici.

The point I was trying to make in my previous post was that you accuse me of being highly opinionated, yet you are no different yourself.

Granted, it was a horrific choice of comparison, but the point is very valid. A better comparison is this: a lot of people in this country smoke, that doesn't mean it's a good thing to do.

following him all over the forum like a troll is boring and pointless though you made your point months ago, he may not have a lot of experience with cars but he is entitled to not like car for what ever reason he wants if its because a man at a bus stop says don't buy a ford because he had one in 1959 and it rusted away is as much a reason to not like them as it is for some idiot to expect him to like a golf because they post on a fiat forum that they are spending 30k on one.

no a direct comparison would be to say some thing like buying a ford is like being rapped up the arse everyday.

what i have don't is prove you wrong when playing the numbers game and as everyone on here knows you don't like it when you are proved wrong.

When you start spouting on about rape on a otherwise civilised forum you cross a line.

You don't want a golf, I couldn't care less. If you look back I initially stated my Punto had passed its MOT but I would be buying another car soon, puntofan01 asked what it was and initially responded positively, that was all there was to it, it was you davewho took the idea of replacing a fiat with a VW as some personal insult and got tetchy about it ultimately claiming that buying a ford (not even the original discussion) was equally a bad thing to do as rape, no matter what you intended that's what you said.

Now if you want to play numbers games and think you're clever carry on I'm happy, you won what ever argument you think you made? because I'm not going to discuss debate or argue with anyone stupid enough to to suggest rape is in anyway comparable to buying a car, I'm still aghast at how ridiculously stupid a comment that was, though not at all surprised it was you that made it.
