I think this sounds great so emailed him back saying id like to buy one so he said in his next email that he would contact Square Trade to arrange Elscrow for the money and the item, I then recieved an email from Square Trade saying that they had been prompted by one of there users and to should go to the nearest Western Union company and send £700 to the follow member details and then reply to this email with your MTCN number and a few more bits of information, so I did and then I have an invoice from Western Union with all the information i then replyed to the email with all the information and he also said in his email to say its not got goods/service its simply for a family friend so I said to Western Union it was for a family friend....

I recieved emails from him saying laptop has been sent and so on 7 days later it has yet to arrive and no more contact from them Square Trade email and not from him and I decided to scan the emails and it turns out both are fakes, It turns out that the Yahoo one is real but all his information is fake but the Square Trade email was a very clever setup he had designed the email so it looked perfectly like the real Square Trade email's and then used some anomolous email program to send an email with any address he choose, he used "[email protected]"....

Issue is I was done out of eBay so cant claim my money, The real square trade dont even do Elscrow service's and its out of there hands and as for the Police they couldnt give a crap.... Yet I have his IP address as i scanned the yahoo email and I found out he is on AOL and not from greece like he said and also Im gonna gibve the IP to the police see if they can do anything... :bang:

The Square Trade fake emails look like this....!

If you used your credit card should be insured for things like this why i only use my visa online since im insured for these kinda problems.

Hi Jaxx.
Bad luck on this one, it's easy to get pulled into one of these.
I try to go on the theory that if it's too good to be true, then it probably isn't!
These people make a fortune out of people trying to find a bargain.
There are loads of scams out there, all perfectly believable. Thats why they work.
Its an expensive way of learning but you'll never get caught again.
......Or will you?

I managed to get his IP from his emails and so on and he is on AOL in this country and not Greece like stated and I have contacted AOL asking to confirum they are AOL IP's so I could contact the police, but they gave me some bull **** long email about user protection and blah blah :bang: I guess they love to safe harbour fraud!

eBay also tomd me that it was sorted away from eBay even tho it was listed on there site so they offer no protection, Western Union only accept cash so I couldnt use my credit card to send money.... This scam is almost perfect!

Indeed, But this one was slightly different as the auction was a buy now price for £700 which kind of seems not to expensive but also not to cheap, but he sent pictures and everything of the items it almost seemed legit his emailswhere friendly, he was in constant communication and it generally had a good vibe about it, Its only when he started asking for information and saying Beware, dont tell Western Union this is for goods or services tell them I am a family member so we both dont get shipping charges etc... And his bad english suddenly turned from bad to good going on in the emails which he said he was greek but turns out hes very english lol.

At one point I asked for his phone number to sort it over the phone and he emailed back quickly saying it should be sorted on email as his english was bad but surely if you can type english you can speak it better, I now look at all the information and its perfectly obvious, I cant believe I fell for the scam to be honest as I am not a computer moron, I do programming and know the ins & outs of a computer yet didnt see this one about to hit me... arrgh well good job its only £700!

Steve, both stolen accounts, remember I spend my day on ebay....

Mainly the "do not use ask a seller a question" that's generally used since they don't check individual accounts to see if they can access the email with the same password, if they can, good, if not, hopefully nobody notices.

Secondly:
Please mail me to [email protected] if you want to buy it now because I will check this mail often.Do not use "ask seller a question" if you want a quick reply to your mail. I have 18 units in my stock for only 500usd/unit

yeah, sure. 500 USD, and I am santa claus. He's registered in the UK, why would it be USD.

If you want it right in your face:

Similar with second one in terms of the above and yet again...
