Strange thing is that my problems started in Blair's era, he did more to screw this country than Thatcher ever did. He was so desperate to hand over all power to Brussels (or Germany & France as the EU should be called) that he forgot who he should have been working for (the British people).

it was Thatcher that gave us to the eu. when you join a gang its hard to get out of it.

not sure who kept our £

From reading all the sources around the net, it seems that it was more the unions that killed British industry by holding it to ransom with strikes and demands for unfair pay increases.

Thatcher made a pledge she would destroy the unions - which she did ... so surely they got what they deserved? If they had been more reasonable, then it wouldn't have happened.

Obviously not that fair as it all moved abroad cheaper...

get everything from abroad cheaper it don't mean the people their are getting a fair days pay for it

they are getting our coal out the ground again now but instead of sending boys and men down mines they kill what ever is on top to get at it. http://coalaction.org.uk/why-not-coal/

I think the problem was more to do with union leaders.
They say 'power corrupts' and the likes of Scargill believed they were demigods. I suppose much of their huge salaries came from the union subs of the thousands - the more they earned, the greater their subs.

Back in the day, the working man was far less informed, their only source of information was the propaganda spouted by the likes of scargill & the working man's tabloids.

These days, most of us know to take what we read in the sun, mirror, mail, expess etc with a huge pinch of salt

Their pay bad!! there were more new cars outside houses in pit villages than anywhere else in the country (except possibly Laylsnd workers) My father had to work two jobs just to put food on the table, no car, no holidays, no chance of more money. The unions got the men to believe that they were entitled to the ludicrous pay demands which the industry could not sustain. When it's cheaper to import coal from abroad then somethings got to give and that was British jobs. Right or wrong thats reality.

She gone, the real problem is nothing has been learnt by our glorious leaders regardless of which party they belong to. the richer still get extraordinary richer and the rest of us,well we pay our tax and just get extraordinary poorer in comparison!

Sad thing is that these days, people are far better informed than ever before and people also have the opportunities and wherewithall to be better informed & yet half the electorate CBA to vote come election time.
I even heard one woman telling her friend that she had voted Tory because (the local MP) has a lovely smile!
When my lad's GF was here on polling day, we were just about to set off down to the polling station, I asked the lass if she'd voted, she said "no, it won't make a difference" :bang:

What I find to be a really sad reflection on society is that more people are fired up to vote for who wins the X factor (or big brother or some other such tat).

Perhaps if politicians HAD to be more accountable & were taken to task over their election promises?
in much the same way as someone is employed on a trial basis & you have to have regular supervision sessions etc to ensure you are up to the task, politicians should be made to think long and hard about their election promises & maybe put timescales on them - if they don't deliver their 12 month promises a re-election should be called?

R.I.P Maggie I think not!
Privatised everything, made her and her cronies multi millionaires, then SCREWED the poor for more money to prop up the economy followed by selling everything at vast profit to foreign governments abit like the CONartists, sorry CONservatives now.

It's SATAN I feel sorry for, maybe she'll run for Primeminster down there?
How much does it cost to die in the Ritz nowadays £200,000-£300,000 more?
Bloody hell my house only cost £150,000.
Don't forget her son was dealing in illegal arms to countries that were embargoed by the UN(that includes the UK) and the US. Got away with it when he got caught aswell.
