(n) people paralysed from waist down or missing 1 or both legs can still drive

Those people are younger fitter and have adapted cars because without hand controls they couldn't drive, this old man had no such adaptations and could you rely on him to react quickly enough if there was need to, after this he took another 5 minutes to get out of the car park. I am seeing more and more elderly people like this and frankly its scary

Not technically a Dash cam however does highlight why some old people really shouldn't be driving

Who the **** do you think you are? Just because someone can't walk that well it doesn't mean that they can't drive. Walking is a complicated and stressful thing for the body to do - people forget this as we do it all the time, but take a look at the trouble scientists have had trying to make a robot walk. There are myriad minor things that can go wrong to effect a person's ability to walk to a level that you seem to think qualifies them as being allowed to drive.

Just because someone has reduced mobility, it doesn't mean you can sit there, film them, judge them and then upload it up to youtube to have a laugh at them.

I could look at the video and judge you. A Road Angel? What's that for? So you know where speed cameras are. Why do you need that? Oh, you must speed everywhere - maybe you shouldn't be driving.

edit; I do agree that there are many elderly drivers out there that shouldn't be driving, but the way you've filmed this man and posted it does not "highlight why some old people really shouldn't be driving ".

For the sake of argument and peace I've taken the video down, I don't agree with you I've seen first hand the results of these drivers but hey you'll be the first to complain if anything happens to your or your family.

Watch the topgear from last Sunday their old persons multipla although meant to be funny does incorporate a lot of things because of accidents where people have been very badly hurt or killed.

You've missed my point. I do agree that there are elderly people on the roads that should not be. I've seen the results first hand, my mum's car being crashed into and also my dad being first knocked off his motorbike and then whilst laid on the road, run over because the dodery old driver left their car in 'drive' not 'park'.

What has riled me is that you've judged this person, and then uploaded the footage to laugh at them. Regardless of "first hand results of these drivers" you've seen it simply does not give the right to do what you've done.

Sorry but you are completely wrong! my intention was not ridicule it was to highlight the sort of person struggling to walk can't turn to look without turning his whole body etc yet still deemed able to drive by a system which fails to spot and remove drivers compromised by degenerating conditions. So please get off your high horse and not be so quick to judge yourself !
Its a serious matter and not something I would never consider funny and I'm pretty incredulous at your suggestion it was to 'laugh at'

I apologise, and retract the 'laugh at' part of my reply.

However, I'm not on a high horse nor am I judging quickly. You simply cannot film someone who is impaired in their ability to walk and then state it will "highlight why some old people really shouldn't be driving". That in itself is passing judgement on someone, and doing it without sufficient facts or context is what I would class as judging someone quickly. The video provides no context of their driving ability.

Once again, I do agree that the system is flawed and some drivers do need to be taken off the road; but that should be based on their driving ability, not their walking ability.

You know what, I've removed the video I'm not sure what else you're trying to prove? no one else is able to see the video so can't form their own opinions or comment accordingly.

I can't be bothered with a long drawn out argument that benefits no one and has nothing more to do with this thread, we are clearly not going to agree, so just drop it now

Personally I don't like the idea of uploading peoples mistakes whilst driving to the internet. I am for dash cams, I think they are a great idea at proving accidents etc but uploading them to youtube doesn't get you anywhere. There is a roundabout near me with each lane marked out as to show where each lane goes but people who are unaware of the road layout it can be confusing, fair enough if they are unaware they should probably hang back and take a better look at where they intend to go. Often on that roundabout I get people dithering about between two lanes as they aren't sure where they are going, or they switch lanes suddenly but as long as they provide indication its never a huge problem, although annoying I can always spot these people a mile off and tend to give them as much room as possible. A 'good' driver is supposed to be prepared for people to suddenly turn without notice etc which is why we leave good braking distances etc.

I'm not saying anyone here is a bad driver but whats the point of putting the videos on the internet? I don't understand the point?

Just an opinion though.

Its more for Education to show how accidents nearly do happen
I've watched loads, it can help with knowing whats around you in a set of eyes and spotting the hazard

Abit like the thoery test
