I paid a grand back in the day for one of the first GT I-Drive 4's. Fully adjustable front and rear and adjustable crank to allow chain tension to be at its best.
Fantastic bike loved it and still do.
Boardman were notorious for head tubes snapping, in days of yore, but they've solved those issues with better welding techniques.
Id have no issue buying an xc from them now.

The one I'm thinking about buying has a good spec, carbon frame, hydraulic brakes etc. Just wondered if anyone's had a bad experience with Boardman. I know Halfords sell Boardman and there's been lots of complaints about Halfords but nothing specifically Boardman as far as I can tell.

my brother has a Boardman Racing bike, and its very nice, be careful buying carbon framed bikes that have seen any use as you don't know how much abuse they've had and carbon can crack and fracture which can't really be fixed. especially important if you're looking at a mountain bike.

it does look nice though

The bike is brand new, un-used. Will be delivered direct from manufacturer so abuse is not a problem.

I've decided to buy it.

The spec is loads better then my Mongoose so I'm collecting it in a few weeks as its at a friends house a few hundred miles away.

Anyone interested in buying my old Mongoose?

Rubbish! Complete rubbish. Carbon fibre? Pah, nancy boy. If it ain't made by a bloke in a grimy workshop in a railway arch in a northern town out of wrought iron then it ain't a real bike.

How many gears? Never 'ad gears when I were a lad. Course, we 'ad real bikes then tha knows wi' pull back handlebars an' a basket on't front. Course, it'd 'ave to be painted black..............

What Mongoose is it, any pics please?

Its a Mongoose Tyax Elite, looks the same as this one except it's huge XL frame and it has lots of lights ..
I got some pics of my bike somewhere I'll upload them if I can find them ..

Edit.
Just attached a pic of my bike lights.

The bikes been ordered this morning, should be delivered to my friends house in a week or two.

He's had it as part of this "ride to work" scheme through his company. Got £460 knocked off the asking price. :D

Anyone ever ridden through the 2.5km long Netherton Canal Tunnel? If you have you'll know why I have some serious lights on my Mongoose.

Yep ridden the Netherton tunnel a few times generally doing a loop from Tipton to Stourton to Aldersley jctn Wolves then Tipton again.

I purchased a Boardman HT Pro Carbon a few months ago and I'm really pleased with it. I've fallen off it a few times but that's a price I'm willing to pay in an attempt to keep up with friends that are 10 years my junior.

Anyway the point of me updating this thread is I've purchased another, but this ones a Broardman Team road bike(http://www.boardmanbikes.com/road/road_team.html). The Pro Carbon is far more suited to the rough stuff so I decided I needed a road bike to, purchased it last weekend.

Here's a pic of it sitting in my hallway ..

Never ridden a road bike before, not looking forward to that seat ..
