I'm not sure this is that accurate, as there is a blackspot about 5 miles from me where a motorcyclist got killed 3 years ago and that hasn't shown up, also a friend's dad had an accident where he had his leg, ribs and jaw all broken and that hasn't shown up either

Either way, the figures are still shocking to see like that

The comment's are hilarious.

That's what happens with population spirals out of control versus money spent on infrastructure. Carry's on at the current rate it will be like India, Vietnam and we'll be running around on skootah's. And you've got to wonder how many of them are insurance jobs ;).

A motorcyclist killed 3 years ago and your friend's dad having an accident surely don't qualify for "blackspot" status?
Considering the number of journeys made, and the variety of types of roads we have, I think our figures are pretty good.
However, we can't be complacent as a lot of the improvement is down to safer vehicles not safer drivers.
The driving test is a inadequate and needs to be much more comprehensive.
And to back that up, anybody caught driving without a license should at the bare minimum be tagged.

I didnt make it very clear that the 2 incidents were in different areas

The Friend's dad one was very much an isolated incident, however, the Motorcyclist one is a known blackspot, a few months after that happened a HGV ploughed into the back of a line of slow moving traffic, and several years before was a big pileup, all at the same junction

I know a few people were taken to hospital in both incidents however, its a nasty road, lots of dips and the particular spot is where a T junction at the bottom of a dip is between an A road and a very minor B road to a village
