I can't be the only one who thinks this is a good idea?

its law to have the seats but baby see baby do, so its not long before they start to learn how to press the 1 button on there seat harnesses,

some of the more expensive seats have an alarm to tell you but you still need to stop and put the catch back together.

not good on a motor way having to stop on the hard shoulder or risk driving miles to next services with kid unstrapped.

Surely making it the standard and the law to have to have a catch with 2 buttons is a lot safer. baby will still learn how to do both but hopefully not until he/she is old enough to understand why they shouldn't.

I also think this is a good idea Dave. My little lad has managed to undo his and he's only 18months old. On a different occasion he managed to reach the door lever and opened the door (completely mine and wifey's fault for forgetting child locks). I dread to think how that would have turned out if both things had happened at the same time, as they so easily could have.

Maybe there is a product opportunity here (a la Dragon's den). Even if new seats could be made with 2 releases (which would make sense to me), what about all the existing car seats out there that people can't afford to replace?
Maybe there is some kind of additional harness as a stand alone article?
Dave you seem like an engineer type to me. Here's your chance!
If you go on dragon's den I'll come and help out with the presentation if you want!
I've done all that stuff before.

We use a device called a 'buckle guard' - http://www.perfectlysafe.com/92205-bucklealert.html
perfectlysafe_2180_8034549

This opens at the top and is 'self-hinged' at the back and does a great job with some of our passengers who are constantly releasing their seatbelts.
We do have one lady in a wheelchair who has a habit of releasing the catch on her support brace. The way around this was to remove the button so the catch can now only be undone by inserting such as a biro! (this was the answer that the brace's manufacturer came up with (after constanlty being asked to repair the catch!))

probably wont work on a baby seat, like i said there is some out there for seatbelts, baby seats are not the same as a seatbelt, they have a 5 point harness
