Torch recommendation

I have a torch whose designers claim it has the power of a million candles.

That, it does not.

How much are you looking to spend on it? I know a guy who's bought one for £124. That's a bit steep.

:D thats the thing i dont actually want to spend more than 10-15 quid (as it is a torch at the end of the day and probably will spend most of its time in my glovebox )

i know for that much its no going to be the best of the best but i just want something of goodish quality that shows me the dog poo on the pavement :D

So every year i say im going to buy a good quality torch and i never get around to it always buy a ****ty one out of poundland that seems to die within a week :bang:

so what do you recommend? just to make sure i dont want to spend lots just want a nice torch (y)(y)

best one i got from poundland was a large headlamp about 3 inch diameter with loads of leds i got it over a year ago fitted it with poundland AA batteries x4 and its still working on the same batteries:eek:

I can only echo what's said already. Those LED ones are very good. I have one in all my vehicles. Purchased from Lidl years ago very cheaply & still going strong. Also have a large Police like torch in the house, also purchased from Lidl. Very good quality I may add. Bottom line I would if I had to fork out for a decent torch, but in reality, you don't have too.

I've always had a thing about torches. When I was a kid I had loads. Even made some up, but that's another story, & long time ago....:D

(stuff from DX can take a month or so to come but its good value, they take pay pal and free postage no matter how much you order ;) (just watch the max order value regarding import tax)

Personally on something like a torch, I would be wanting to try before you buy. Actually feeling something like this, in your mitts makes all the difference, but hey, each to their own.

I use the £16 ones on ebay (inc postage), first one lasted 3 years of being dropped, used daily, covered in oil and brake fluid etc. 2nd one is currently travelling around the country...I left it sticking by it's magnet to the underside of a BMW, my 3rd one is going strong. I have brought many from tool vans, halfords etc nothing but trouble.

Slightly old thread, but if anyone is interested Lidl are selling LED torches on Thursday. Under a fiver, Guaranteed. A nice wee torch that's very bright.

poundland have a led torch with a reusable glow stick on the other end, glow stick can either be on or flassing, i got one to leave in glove box, handy if you break down on a motorway and have to walk to the phone.
could also be handy for walkers on unlit country roads too, and news paper delivery people
