Nope. not cheap. but in my opinion its worth it, i'd rather have the expensive systm and not have the car broken into / stolen. than get the cheaper one and it get nicked.

At the end of the day, if i want, i can take this system with me wherever.. all it requires is a power feed from inside.. not dependant on anything.. so if i move and can park on the driveway then it will be used as house CCTV (y) its versitile :D

Yeah, it's just a lot of money for me without a job atm lol.

Bit of a recurring problem this...

Every night thugs (20/30 at a time) congregate at the bottom of our driveway and cause trouble - throw stuff at cars - throw stuff up the drive - walk up our drive and threaten us - walk up our drive and bang on the windows - rattle the shop shutters next door etc etc etc, the list goes on.

We called the police one night and asked them to come and move them along. Now what would be the most sensible method of moving them? Drive up as normal and have a polite word? Noooo, lights and sirens at 50MPH up the road obviously!

Is it legal to put cameras on the house to monitor our driveway and house?

And is it legal to put cameras on that are watching the pavement outside our house?

And what the hell else can we do?
This happens every single night.

You have to phone in every incident - & get a crime number for each individual incident. No crime number? – then there’s no `recorded crime’ … you’ve wasted your time! And don’t fall for the police `trick’ of letting them roll-up mutiple incidents into one crime number!

Be aware that the police will - do nothing for as long as possible, & do little for as long as possible. Log all incidents. Use CCTV by all means – but be aware the police are way-way ahead of you there. Have they actually advised you what they’ll do with the evidence. My guess is they’ve cautioned you about filming? When will they view the evidence? (We’re booking the training room to look at it next week, Sir. Pc W’s off on course, Sir – we’ll look at it when he get’s back, Sir. Pc R’s off sick, Sir – we’ll look at it when he get’s back, Sir. Wpc M’s on court duty, Sir – we’ll look at it when she gets back, Sir. Sgt K’s on leave, Sir – we’ll look at it when he gets back, Sir). And if you ever get them to actually look at it – Not much use, Sir. Just shadows, Sir – youths’ in hoodies, Sir. The youth in the Adidas hoodie said it wasn’t him, Sir – he’d lent it to a youth he doesn’t know the name of, Sir. The youth in the Puma hoodie said it wasn’t him, Sir – he’d sold it to a youth he doesn’t know the name of, Sir.

Log all incidents Put them to the police. Put them to the local Crime Partnership. Put them to the police authority. Go to the police authority meetings. Put them to HMIC. Don’t phone (We’ve no record of that call, Sir). Write – recorded delivery. Put it to your MP, Natascha Engel(?) (50% of constituents complaints can be about policing).

Use the term `harassment’ – you’re being harassed! Did the Harassment Act fall off the lorry somewhere between Parliament & Derbyshire Police?

The end result? - you might get one of the 30 thugs convicted.

Best option? Tell them your cousin, the Duchess of Cambridge is staying with you & is alarmed & distressed. Suddenly 30 youths will be arrested on `suspicion’ of something.

I’ll leave you with one of my favourite quotes.

They're not commiting a 'crime' as such, just loitering and being a PITA. The guy next door daren't open his door!!

Dom

They're not commiting a 'crime' ...

Well that’s easily challenged.

If that were true – then presumably you & 20/30 of your friends can go round to CC Mick Creedon’s family home & congregate on his drive & “cause trouble” inc. throw stuff at his car(s), throw stuff at his property, bang on the windows, & threaten him & his family, etc.

How many nights do you think you’ll be doing that before you’re arrested?

I take it there aint any local parks for them to get drunk and have unprotected copulation in? :bang:

Yeah, just round the corner lol!

Probably best to put up a half decent camera system, put a "beware of the dog" sign on the lawn and spread a rumor around the local schools that "That wierd old bloke from next door is the head "honcho" in a local mafia".

They wont come down your drive then ;)

Hope you get it all sorted soon man, gotta look after your gp (y)

Much love
Tom

Mum's been advised by the Police that it is illegal to have a CCTV camera that would view the road/pavement.

Dom

YyeesS - I suspected as such. Actually your mum's had the `misinformation' visit in the hope she'll go-away. I call it `intimidation' or `corrupt policing.'

Did he also give her `things could get worse before they get better'?

Consider - what's easier? Tackling 20/30 youths `every night' or shutting-up the victim & letting the youths have control of the street? What shows up better on the crime stats?

I thought that the police were taught basic law as part of their training? I think some of them just make it up to suit the situation, or for a quiet life. Like the guy in Scotland who took a picture of his daughetr in a shopping centre and the cops came and told him to delete his pictures because it is illegal to take pictures in that shopping centre.:bang:
