I am looking for a new Pay-as-you-Go phone.
I'm told i need to get a phone with O2 or sim free to use the "GiffGaff" network?
This will mean free calls and texts to most people at uni if i top up £10 every 3 months :) - useful

I have £100 to spend and i'm after a smartphone which can get onto the internet via WiFi that our uni has everywhere(y)
I currently have an LG cookie kp501 and have liked this phone, However this phone is starting to reboot by it's self and tends to go slow every now and again. I think it's 2 years old, i'm not sure though:p

I know Nothing about phones so any help is most welcome:)

I have been looking at the Samsung Galaxy Apollo for £80. The screen looks like it will be slightly larger than the LG cookie kp501 that i have now & i says it can go onto the web and use apps?

I would quite like a phone that can act like a satnav, and tell you your speed while driving etc.(y)

I'm sure something like a Second hand Nokia N900 or iPhone fits the bill. £100 for a new phone isn't going to get you anything useful IMO.
You need to be computer savvy to get sat nav on the N900 but easy if are.

lol whatever you do, dont get a samsung galaxy s. Ive had mine a year and im stuck with it for another year. Its so slow and crashes a lot  stupid thing lol

It just doesn't do it as well, or as quickly or look as good, all in a lower screen resolution.
For it's price it's ok but doesn't compare to the iPhone hence the price difference.

you wont get unlimited calls to other o2 phone with o2 for £10 every three months i dont think, 1 month
gifgaf give you credit for calls you recieve so if you give your phone number out to some dodgy sites people will ring trying to sell you stuff, keep them chatting for ages and you get more credit.

asda do a binatone dual sim phone for cheap, not sure if its got all the other stuff you need on it though

I was thinking of buying an iphone 4s directly from and getting the £10 goody bag monthly from Giffgaff. Works out at only £31 a phone for 24 months, much cheaper than any other contracts plus I own the phone outright and im nmot tied to any contract. Get unlimited texts and interenet and 250 minutes

Sorry to hijack but just got a Desire S, plan on flashing it but no idea how to with Android.

Should be fun!

Anyway the best smartphone new would be the Wildfire S at £170. 2nd hand though you could pick up a bargain for £100, depending on what you fancy.

Yeah defo. I'm running a ROM with more features and better graphics AND it's faster than the stock rom :).

Apps 2 SD (app2sd) is litterally that. It fools android into installing ALL apps into an EXT partition on your SD card :). So find a rom that has that and follow the instructions on flashing a ROM (you'll need an aftermarket recovery boot rom) as well as partition the SD card.

Disagree about the Galaxy S, I've had one on 3 network for about 18months, the network and the phone are both fast, great having flash support too although I have got a mate with one on TMobile/Orange network and you wouldn't know it was the same phone. In your price zone there is always something they don't do though, ie no flash support so a higher spec used phone sounds best. Whatever you get just make sure you update the firmware if needed and it should do the job. There are quite a few free nav apps around on the android market I believe although the installed google one has been fine when I have needed it.
