Can anyone please tell me what the hell these sensors are? They were recently place on Chalons way in Ilkeston, just wondering what exactly they are if anyone knows. Thanks.

Are they when you go into Tesco? I know the ones near me have Parking Eye or something, can only stay there for 3 hours before getting a 'fine'.

There on a the road near Tesco, not the entrance. I know the camera you mean (I work in Tesco) and there not them ANPR Camera's.

Strange, might be council ANPR maybe?

Don't think their ANPR camera's, as there not looking/aiming at number plates. I think it may be something to do with traffic monitoring. They put these sensors in while updating an old pedestrian crossing about 20 yards away.

Oh I saw them aswell! Think they are something todo with the crossing... Not that people use the crossing there! I had to slam on many-a-times for someone on bottom of challons way!

Yeah it is a puffin crossing, its just been updated with new lights and buttons. The sensors are placed like this:

And yeah people don't ever bother with that crossing even if it is new =| Lol

Another thing I noticed aswell, the big box thing on the side looks like a speaker. On all four sensors it faces away from the road its positioned by aswell :S.

Perhaps they're to catch the driver that keeps nearly mowing pedestrians down.
