just drove through a GATSO (heading towards the lens) and it flashed me, i thought that GATSOs only took a picture of the back of the car.

There was definatly not 1 on the other side of the road. i'm really starting to brick it now, being told different things by different people.
i'll of gone gray after a 17 day wait 2 see if ive been done.

personally I'd forget about it, you should have received something by now, and even if you do get something theres pretty much sweet FA you can do about it.

I was gonna say, it's illegal for it to flash at you, because that's a driving hazard surely!

The new digital Truvelo cameras take a photo from the front and also flash. They have 14 days to send you a notice, but it normally arrives much quicker. I think the Truvelo don't run out of film as they are digital and on a modem link to a central server which sends the ticket automatically.

Good luck.

I remember on 5th Gear when they did a bit about speed cameras, they said that until now camera's could only take a picture of cars moving away from them, but that was about to change, they didn't say any more on the subject.

I managed to get off the fixed penalty once, by convincing the police that the car they caught on camera must have been a ringer of my car. I told them that I was at work and had about 200 witnesses to prove it. It required a fair bit of correspondence both ways and dragged on for a bit, but I think they got fed up with persuing it eventually.

Truvelo deffo take front facing pics - they are dotted all over Northampton, and ensure the pic of the driver is taken...

...one reason I always drive round wearing a gorilla mask :p [thanks for lending me that, Neo ;)]

I had this last week! Thought i had been flashed head on by a gatso. I went back the other day and there were no lines on my side of the road. Easy way to check i guess.

One of the advantages that Bikers have over cars is that they've no front number plate, so can't be done from the front. One of the main reasons that there aren't many cameras that way round. The flash argument is secondary these days, infra red does away with that.

(apologies in advance, further off topic)

So you're implying that bikers can only be 'done from the rear'? :D
