its an audio decoder, takes the AC3 stream and splits into the 6 analogue channels. Im very tempted to get it and use it to add some digital inputs to my 5.1 system but i need one that can handle DTS as well and this one doesnt say it does

My DVD player was purchased over 4 years and doesn't do DTS but my Dad's does.

I could plug mines into this box of tricks to get the sound desired. Suppose it is very cheap.
