Had a crazy morning today. All this stress of results today and such got to me I think and I think I forgot to set my alarm.

I normally leave at a latest of 8:40 on a wednesday, usually 8:35 because I have a walk to go from my bike to the lecture room for maths.

I woke at 8:45.

I thought to myself, do I stay or not? No, i can't miss my first lecture. I jumped (literally) into the shower, 45 seconds to wash my hair, dried (20 seconds, i.e. still wet) dressed, packed bag, filled up water bottle, sprayed smelly stuff to hide the horrible smell, cleaned teeth + mouthwash as quickly as possible. Helmet and gloves, leave 8:50, reach bike shed at 8:53. Try to unlock shed, the frost (severe today) had frozen it, all that effort for nothing :(

But no, i took out my drinks bottle and soaked the lock with my (warmer) water, it came undone with some force, grabbed my bike, the seat had water on and was frozen, cycled to uni as fast as I could ride. Parked it and locked it, walked into lecture at 9:02 with only one line of text on the board.

I didn't half need the toilet though!

Normally wake at 7:15-7:45, not 8:45 lol

I know, but I have this rule with myself that I won't miss lectures. Lecture was a waste of time anyway.

My friends didn't believe me....

I was at a 9 o/c lecture this morning too... there were 20 people in the class and 93 on the register (should have been there).

I have 9am lectures 3 days and 10am the other 2, every other week I don't finish until 4-5 everyday except wednesday (hence I am online now :))

Everybody seems to turn up to mine (well, 80% consistantly I think).

7:15 for a 9am? Paul...are you crazy?

I do 8-8:30am for a 9am, still get in on time, and manage to fit in a shower, breakfast and a 4mile drive in mainly 30mph conditions....including deicing if it needs it, and I still get in ~9:05!

Fair point actually. The only reason I made my 9am today is cos Ive missed it the last two weeks...:)

I have to leave my room at 8:37 to be exact to get into the lecture 2 mins before it starts. This is because although it's not that far, a lot of it is in traffic (although the bike helps ;)) and once at uni it takes a few minutes to lock up and then walk to lectures (also need to get the lift most days).

When I say 7:15, I mean actually get out of bed by 7:50, if I do that I should get in on time. I suppose I check my email etc. in the morning which takes up a good 15 mins or so hence my problem ;)

Tax dodging my arse. This is something that gets to me. Before going to uni I worked full time for a year so I could afford to even think about going to uni. I really don't know where this crap about students not paying tax has come from.

Have a read. I'll summerise; If I (as a student) work during term time, I pay the same amount of tax etc as if I werent a student. If i work in holidays, i don't pay. So that must mean that by working in holidays, i dodge tax - yeah? Well no, no it bloody doesnt. You all know there is a limit on what you can earn before it is taxed, and hey guess what - working out of term time its quite hard to reach that limit. And if you do reach that limit.. you'll never guess what happens? Yup, you pay tax. During holidays, students are simply given different tax codes so they don't end up paying tax when they wouldnt need to (same as with anyone really), it saves the hassle of trying to get tax refunded.

Your comment may have been in jest, but there are so many stupid people out there that seem to think its easy financially being a student, hell my step mum thought that student accomodation was free for first years! Yes we get a student loan, a loan not a grant. This year I got £3000, my tution fees were £1150, and my accomodation was £2200 ish. Still have to pay it all back.

You can claim any tax back that has been taken of earnings under the £4615 personal threshold, and you are allowed to not pay national insurance for 3 (or maybe 5) years of working before you're 25. I've never had a hastle getting my tax refunded, I'm due nearly a grand this year :D
