Hey all,

Do we have any other campers on here? tents, tourers, motorhomes etc?

i got myself a trailer tent last year since the punto wouldn't have a chance towing a caravan.

i'm hoping to get away this friday but we can't decide where to go, lakes, yorkshire and scotland is probably where it's between.

i've only ever been to 2 haven parks with the trailer tent in off season when they're only a few quid a night, but this time of year they're a good £40 a night.

i've been looking on ukcampsite.co.uk which is a good site but most sites get good and bad reviews, i'm not picky at all as long as there's a pub within staggering distance of the site and somewhere to walk the dog, it's really just for some quiet time with the GF (yeahh i'm old before my time lol :p)

wouldn't mind hearing what people have to say about sites and stuff, still trying to work this camping business out :D

cheers all

Parks offer so many different things, a lot of campers don't read all the stuff and then get disappointed when they get there.

Nothing wrong with the Park, just wrong for them.

They then leave bad feedback.

Of course, its never their fault that the Park didn't match their requirements.

Cheers

ps I work on a caravan park without a pub within staggering distance.

yeah fair comment, i'd go to one without a pub nearby tbh as long as there's a bit of life and somewhere to go walking with the dog, just be nice to get away.

as for EHU i can take it or leave it really but it is handy for the beer fridge :p

i've seen an amazing price for reighton sands (haven park) from the 12th for 4 nights, seems it gunna p!ss down all week though :(

i go camping a lot every chance i can get i love shell island as its one of the few places you can have a camp fire get pissed up and go in a big group i also like blue dolphin in filey its not to far away from scarborough wich is a great night out was there last weekend and it cost me £60 for 3 nights for 3 adults :slayer:

been there twice, both times was asked never to return lmao. big group of lads in 4/5 cars isn't their ideal customer base though.

in off season you can get there for £7 a night with EHU (y)

sell beer fridge and buy 3 way fridge = never have a warm beer :p

(they can be run on 12v whilst driving then on site you can use either 240v ehu or LPG think mine uses 12g of gas (without digging hand book out) an hour so a 4kg bottle will last approx 13 days (y) :D (just ensure you leave ventilation when on gas due to Carbon monoxide build up ect)

Keep sig other happy get a 300 watt inverter so she can power her GHD's :p

wow didn't realise you could get gas powered fidges :O i just use a bucket f water in the shade when i don't have the fridge which normaly works okay.

mate gave me a battery for camping, off a passat diesel which i use my invertor on for charging phones and the portable dvd player, i use my solar battery top of thing to charge it through the day too :)

i know it's camping but it can get a bit boring if the weathers crap and you can't/don't want to leave the tent

yeah 11 of us went in a huge tent, they took some persuading that we weren't like the other groups of lads, but we were and got kicked straight off :( ended up camping at some school and having to pretend to be protesting about the post office or something lol

Many don't do themselves any favours saw a couple of lads in a GPunto get turned around quick sharp by the camp owners.... Fancy pulling on having not booked on a bank holiday with the stereo and sub blasting away...

i think its more to do with how you conduct yourselves we have befriended several camp owners in the past on lads camping trips..

Including stepping in when another camper was threatening the warden and his wife

Getting the electricity back on a bank holiday on after a major failure in the switch room (then again mate been a sparky in works van came in handy) got a free weekends camping for that one :p
