Election announced

Election announced

Worst kept secret in politics! We've known about the election in May for the last 2 months.

This is going to be an interesting time, mainly for the London area. We have local elections here too. It's already threatened that local counts will be forced to run the counts for the general and local ballots concurrently! That'll be over 24 hours of counting! Fun fun...

This only would incur a kick the box away tax with another stealth tax added. And of course it would have an extra special VAT added to it.

Best would be nobody gets to the ballots.

I wonder what would happen if the people of the UK decided to put a blanket ban on voting on the day..:chin: I personally think this might actually send a big message to the bums that make a career of screwing the people of this country while they line their pockets thankyou very much..

I'm OK jack screw you is the politicians charter..have any of you meet a decent one that doesn't make a living out of lying and blagging their way through life?

I firmly believe the banks should have gone to the wall and the people of the UK should not have had to baled them out courtesy of HM government..Barclay's went to the Arabs and the others should have made similar arrangements..then the UK wouldnt be in the debt we are now..the blame for this lays firmly on the currant UK administration..

I'm going to vote Labour as I'm absolutely certain the country will be in safe hands. I'm a big admirer of the way Uncle Gordon sold off our gold reserves. I mean, announcing exacly when you are going to increase the supply of gold on the international market place so that the price drops dramatically was a master stroke. Then there was the matter of exchanging the cash which, as gold sales are in US$ should have been changed to Sterling; but was actually exchanged for Japanese Yen, at a loss. This was then changed into Euros in order to help out his pals in the EC, at a loss, before being exchanged for £s, again at a loss.

Then there's the fact that so many people now work for "the Government" which should ensure that a hell of a lot of people are worried about their jobs if the Tories get in. That'll be all those in "monitoring" positions that check whether or not organisations are employing enough minorities and all those jobs you see advertised that don't actually say what the job is.

Then there are Ambulance Managers who earn over £35,000 p.a. and, despite all being fully qualified Paramedics never go out on the road even though there can be 30 to 40 outstanding "Reds". Quite why they get 5-Series and X5 BMWs with blue strobe lights in the grille as company cars I've absolutely no idea. Cops don't get company cars, neither do Fire Officers, as far as I know.

Then there are all the bus lanes, some of which are undoubtedly useful. But, how many are there in your area where there has never been a history of congestion. I can think of 3 within a mile of one another. When I asked the local Council's Higways Department why these had been put in, the man I spoke to said he had no idea. When I put it to him that this was more about Government targets and asked him why we should have to pay for these lanes he said the money came from Central Government. I happen to know that a Road Traffic Regulation Order needed for this kind of thing costs around £5,000 a time, plus the actual cost of getting the blokes to paint the lines. Oh, and the regulations for bus lanes also require the bus stops to become Bus Stop Clearways.

Then there are Iraq, Afghanistan, immigration, the Scottish Parliament, Welsh Assembly, bailing the banks out for hundred of billions while letting Rover, LDV and Corus go to the wall.

Yes, I think I'll be voting Labour.

While I think of it, whatever happened to the New bit in New Labour?

all cons will do is cut everything back
and then think about lowering taxes.
and sell everything off such as fire brigade police ambulance hospitals (called privatisation), but before this they will attack trade see how much mroe they can remove

there are other parties;)

But this would split the vote and let Uncle Gordonback in through the back door..people have to be cruel to be kind and make a decisive vote to put him out of his misery..what I would really love to see is him loosing the vote in his own constituency..:D

TBH I'm probably a little more worried about Cameron being voted in, rather than losing Brown. Lib Dems are a waste of a vote because they stand a hope in hell of actually winning and their policies are shocking.

Out of the three main parties, I'd have to say that Labour do offer the (ever so slightly) better deal - and I am someone who really hates Labour!

you encouraging me to bitch?

Bens paying the deposit money............

Ladies and gentlemen...I am standing for election on behalf of the FF party(y)

Vote T on your ballot papers:worship:

What are your main policies?

First off a pledge to put back all the under trays that have gone missing on many a fiat he has worked on..:D

Then a pledge to claim expenses for a new roof where the trays been covering up holes..:D

if i went to the ballot and say the fiatforum party i think id have to vote for it , we could ensure that no car can be made quicker than a fiat, and people have to give way to fiats, people must be at traffic lights ready to wash and fiats :yum:, im up for that lol.
whatever you do though, dont split the vote, or if you think this country is in a bad state now, wait till labour gets back in.
i dont think they will be much better than labour, but they are the best hope, so i think the conservatives should have the vote. if people split the vote then labour will waltz back in.
saying that though, and i don't mean to case offence or an uproar, but is there anyone here that will vote labour? if so why!!??!!

Let's see how we can cut the budget deficit. Seeing how most public civil engineering projects are late, and all of them run overbudget, that's the first cut to be made. Seeing as a tremendous amount of construction work is carried out by migrants, that would have a very small impact on the jobless figures. Nothing personal against migrants, but a tremendous number of these people have come here as a result of recruitment in their own countries specifically for large projects like these.

Stop the expansion of tram networks and replace them with trolleybuses which will cost less than half the amount.

Next, make sure that civil authorities like the Police, Fire and Ambulance buy UK sourced products, as far as possible, such as Rover cars and LDV vans and then.....oh yes, I forgot, they've gone out of business. Alright then, Toyotas, Nissans and Hondas.

The Ministry of Defence is moving along that path quite rapidly as has been shown by its very recently publicised decision to buy light tanks from General Dynamics of America.

Our train manufacturers are owned by Adtranz of Germany, Alsthom of France and Bombardier of Canada. We've become what we used to consider 3rd world countries to be. Simply an assembly plant for products designed abroad and with all the technical stuff like motors, control systems and bogies made abroad.

Let's get back to what we've always been good at, no, not conquering backward countries, enslaving their population and pillaging the country's natural resources, but innovation, design and engineering.
