I saw a program on TV a while ago about SSC Thrust and they mentioned the tests that the military have done with sleds and they are so much faster than cars, they were going faster than SSC years ago. It makes me wonder why the land speed record is so titled, surely it should be the car speed record, unless they are saying that the sled being on a rail means it's not on land.
