What is your pet hate when out and about in your car? Is it what ither drivers do? What passengers do? Anything to do with the road?

I have a number :D

  • Talking on a mobile phone when driving
  • Not indicating
  • Tailgating
  • Lane hogging
  • Bad traffic light phasing
  • Etc :p
Anyone else care to add?

  • Middle/ outer lane hogs on the motorway
  • Front foglights in use when not foggy
  • Badly adjusted headlights
  • HID's fitted to old car headlights not suitable for them
  • Tailgating
  • Cutting in at the last second on merging lanes
  • Poor lane discipline on the motorway
  • Selfish/ inconsiderate/ bullying/ aggressive driving
  • Drivers with lack of attention to the road around them
  • Chavs driving like morons
  • Using mobiles whilst driving

etc. etc. etc.

middle lane hoggers on the motorway....

people who do 40mph in a 60 and carry on doing the same speeds through 30 zones....

people who talk on there mobiles holding them while driving (mrs desp housewife in her 80k range rover... fiats have it built in for 1/8 of that price) - i can do it legally (y)

people who leave there full beam on... be it behind you or soming towards you

Yeah, I hate pets on the road

Oh, wait. I see.

Tailgating is the worst for me, especially when I've got the family in the car. Makes me want to force them to overtake by going as slowly as possible, then follow them home and then kill them in the face:mad:

I haven't done that. Yet:devil:

Also talking on mobile. Texting is even worse.

And smoking. Hate to see people smoking when driving. We had a big debate about that on here ages ago.

Well, I've just written to my local paper asking why plod is doing nothing about the fog light brigade AND the blue light brigade.
3 times now I have pulled aside to let a police car overtake - only to see it's an old motor showing lots of blue lights at the front. When you're trying to concentrate on what's in front & you keep glimpsing blue lights in your mirror, you assume it's plod on a mission.
This latest one was an old astra with flashing LED panels behind the radiator grille - so looking exactly like an unmarked car (at night you only see the lights).
It's not just this though, some drivers are replacing their sidelights with blue LEDs so the whole light is blue.
Road vehicle lighting regs state it's illegal to display a blue beacon (working or not) or anything that resembles a blue beacon.

Front fogs. Driving out of town every morning this week, going past the usual loooooong queues of cars, I reckoned every 4th car had fogs lit (some just fogs, some had fogs AND dipped) - and yet every morning the weather was clear - and also despite the fact that these cars were mostly stationary.

I've suggested our local force sends the plastic plods out with digital cameras and a few instant fine pads.
Take a pic of the car & hand the driver an instant £30 fine, number of cars I see, that's got to be one huge moneyspinner.

Never know, might also catch a few tax & insurance dodgers as well.

Also hate the wrong lane idiots - they purposely get into the wrong lane to jump queues then force their way in - not if I'm at the head of the queue they don't.
Also hate those jumping around lanes in a vain attempt to beat the queue. had one moron in a transit, forcing his way in front of cars - over two miles, he ended up just two cars ahead of me from starting out beside me!

The problem the plastic police have is that they aren't allowed to issue fines/ticket etc. Whenever someone is caught breaking the law, it is the real police that issue the ticket.

So riding bikes on pavements, dog fouling, anti-social behaviour, bad driving, drug dealers, etc, etc - all need the real police to deal with them.

In my opinion, their role is pretty pointless in that they can do what the rest of us do should they see something dodgy going on - call the police! After all, many of these people are only PCSOs because the real force wouldn't have them. They'd be better utilised as secretaries completing the paperwork the actual police officers have to to allow some policing.

People who go way to fast/slow
People who don't indicate (my dad)
People who come off a 30 road onto a 40 but continue to do 30
People who see police cars and go 10 miles under the speedlimit for some reason
People who have their fog lights on when its neither dark nor foggy!
And finally people who try and overtake me then quickly cut back in to turn off etc

EDIT: Also, though this is technically not on the road, people chucking rubbish our their window, was in kfc today and a car chucked full bag of rubbish out :O

Fog lights are for those times when visibility is restricted due to adverse weather - and visibility must be below 100 metres.

I hate pets on the road too

obliterated a rabbit today, had to pick its head out of the grille

Sat in a car park today waiting for the wife to do a bit of shopping. The car park has a one way system to prevent accidents.
Despite the white lines & numerous signs, no end of people try to come into the exit - morons.

The serious ones...

Mobile phones....put them down
Fog lights.........They do have an off switch
