JD Wetherspoon group is planning to replace Coors draught products with Carlsberg draught products within the next month.

Tuborg will replace Coors Light and Carlsberg will replace Carling which i think is a bad move but it's all to do with costs

Plans are Carlsberg will be sold at £1.99 a pint

Who cares?

Certainly not the owner of Wetherspoons/Lloyds as he's a Real Ale fan - as I am.

Try it - you might like it. It actually has flavour - in fact there are a wide variety of flavours with Real Ale.

Avoid anything with "smooth" in the name as these are pumped directly from the urinals.

That's ****!!

Looks like I'm not going to 'spoons anymore, not without Carling!!

Carling... wouldn't use it to wash the toilets.

Carlsberg Export at a minimum, Grolsh, Stella, Krony. Would take a real ale over any providing they have actually got a few on, and not just the mix of all the drip trays.

Confessions of a Brewers Fayre bar tender.

carling and carlsberg are both utter crap imo. too fizzy, dont taste of much and you fart something chronic after a couple. i will admit though that a really cold carlsberg can be nice in the summer.

id much rather drink a pint of Guinness, fullers, bass, greene king, sharps, st austell, davenports, wychwood etc or if thata a bit muh have a pint of cider, bottle of sol, corona or Budweiser.

Ah, I might be able to go in to a 'spoons and not have to drink spirits now. Great.

i usually stick to the becks-1.29 a bottle or the jagerbombs in spoons!
i go to the local if i want a nice refreshing pint!

(y) Wetherspoons/Lloyds always have a couple (usually more) hand-pumps on with a wide variety (often local) of real ales.

At least once (twice?) a year they have a "beer festival" where the range and number of ales available is considerably expanded.

i worked at a spoons for a good few years. theys always at least 2 local or local ish ales on the hand pumps, and when the beer festivals come around its at least 6. we had 8 pulls and 2 or 3 were reserved for regular things like abbot ale or IPA all the others were usually 'guest' beers. it was rare we had a dormant pump tbh

I cant stand Carlsberg but its in all the bars down here in Northampton as its where its brewed :yuck:

stupidly late reply but seeing as you're a fan of monster
im reliably informed monster has the jd wetherspoons contract and now serves monster/vodka rather than redbull/vokda

They do indeed sell monster in the smaller 250ml cans - same size as redbull. Cans are marked as Monster ( export) :D

Caroline - Real ale festival on again at end of October
