tis really sad. i guess she had no family... or no-one who class as famiyl if they've not noticed. and no friends?

There is a lady across from me, who I've never met, she's agoraphobic, but I would notice if her blinds hadn't moved or lights not come on....For 5 years!!!

edinburgh has a massive turnover in residents
lots of students and foreigners, so even in a stair of 16 flats of a normal tenement you would be lucky if one or two are there for any length of time
if everyones moving then nobody knows who hasnt been seen
rodney street is like this,that area has loads of students and foreign workers

The smell would be bad though. How could no-one notice after ~5 years?

you would be surpriced how smelly some stairs can be!!!

Sad as this is, its a shame that a lot of to days people just don't integrate the same nowadays. Large cities like "Embra" is a classic example.

if its concrete construction floors, and not floorboards, be hard for any rot to escape

reminds me of that case where a woman wasnt found for a few years and when they broke in, the television was still on. all her bills were direct debits and money was in the account to cover them
