Wow, what another great FF mini-meet :)

Having got to Wicksteed Park around 1ish, it seemed that mine and purplemondays cars [both 5 doors] were sidelined to one part of the park, with TCs, froggies and Bobs [all 3 doors] to the other!

With an hour or so on some rides [ok, me and kids on the Merry-go-round], we took a convoy down to Frankie & Bennies :)

Food was excellent, but the fun came after - the 5 boys left the girlies chatting, and then played with the cars, oh yes. The A14 was a spitting distance away, so a few blats up and down in each car.

There was my re-mapped 5 door Abarth, driven by TC, froggie and purplemonday. Seemed to have slightly more oomph, froggie reckoned steering more taut, TC said more roll [this became apparent later...]

Froggie had a 3 door Abarth, and was driven by TC - he can make any comments.

And TCs 1.6 was also tested, not for speed, but for pure handling - I took the wheel, with froggie as my passenger, and my, did I test it round some local roundabouts - lowered by 30mm with some 17s on, this car answered everything I gave it - both the Abarths would have just lost it as this 1.6 tucked into every corner. This is without doubt the most fun I have had round bends for some time. No idea what speed I was taking them at, maybe froggie took a mental note, lol.

I think without doubt springs and wider tyres will be my next project on my Abarth, once CDA fitted - sod the sideskirts.

We decided not to test the other 1.6 or 1.2, sorry guys :( you know who you are ;)

Overall, a cracking day out and another first for the forum with Club Stilo :) - PICS are bound to follow.

Excellent, sounds like fun was had by all. Sorry I couldnt make it I forgot I had an observed drive as well today - an hour driving on the motorway being observed.... like I needed that after over 2,000 miles this week on motorways lol! Oh and Stu.... we went back to the pub yesterday afternoon which wasnt the best idea - but I convinced Tom (the guy at the bar) to go for a remap :)

Hmmm, was that dragged kicking and screaming back to the pub by Andy? I know his type, lol.....

Good news about Tom, though - we were like a double act in the pub! :)

Well................................

the meet went very well, it was good finally meeting some of you, the girls had a good time, the kids had fun and most importantly, us boys had some fun!

Of the cars tested, I'd say Stus was the quickest, Steve's is exactly like mine was before I started tinkering, except his is a 2.4, but with some money spent he'll soon have a great road holding piece of kit too. Mine goes round bends but needs more power (see section 3.2 titled Alfanige). Johns, well, his is sponsored by Stagecoach and Bobs is cool but wasn't tested as it is only a 1.2, although I know if Stiloboy was there, he'd have had his 1.2 beating the Abarths, etc! Driving an Abarth hasn't made me want one, I would still have to have my manual gearbox, I need a clutch and brake, and I think I'd still go for the Diesel if I was going to change mine.

Frankie & Bennies was as good as the one here in Peterborough, good food and drinks, a nice welcoming atmosphere and they were very tolerant of us Petrolheads! Mind you, I was £16 short when I paid the bill guys, so next time, you lot owe me a drink or two!

All in all a good day and I got to see Stus top totty wife!

Hope we have another soon!

Re: Well................................

You can get a manual Abarth, just avoid the Selespeed - although now I have got used to it, it will be strange going back to a manual.

Or do loads of overtime and save up for a MJTD :)

Jules.................................

thanks for that nice comment, however, you're supposed to say TCs very sweet, nah, only joking, nice of you to say, we do our best with them!

Hey....................................

when we were out 'testing' the cars, we took a little time don't you think ???

Use your imagination!

Anyway, why are you on, has he got his pinny on again ???
