Im sick of working on the car on the street so id like to get a drive sorted.
Im on a very tight budget. Anyone know where I can get cheap or free paving stones.

I need 5mx6.5m so 11.5m2 could go further if its cheap.

Any advice would be cool obviously Id be jacking the car up using 2 or sometimes 4 axel stands or ramps.

Try your local building yard you can find some great deals I know I can sometimes.

Sometimes they have odd ones of stock discontinued and the like

Nice one emma, good idea. Im not that fussed about them matching either.

I phoned the council they want £530.00 to drop the curb. So I wont be getting that done anytime soon.

No such thing as a cheap drive unfortunatly. Legally need a drop down done by the council to take your car up and down (y)

Jon.

:yehthat:

you will find you run into trouble with the council if you run up a curb their argument is that there is a chance of you damaging underlying services or the pavement....

can be a big fine if they decide to pursue it

look at which local sub contractor the council uses as they will often be cheaper than if you pay the council to do the work (and they then subcontract the work,)

The lad on the phone said we don’t have to get it done no one will make a fuss. Most of the drives round here are not lowered.

I would prefer it lowered for the cars sake, but can not chuck that kind of money around at the moment.

Fair enough they had a blitz here recently which caused a bit of agro as one street (former council propertys) had driveways (done by the council when they owned them) but they didn't drop the curbs at the time.

then 20 years on now they sold them off they all got nasty letters saying if you continue to drive over the curb you will get done,,,

Sometimes you find old reclemation yards for buildngs that heve been knocked down, due to redevelopment or fires. They usualy have laods of bricks or roofing but usualy slabs knocking about. its kinda like a scrappy for houses. great places though. especially if you want some obscure planting arangements in your garden

these are good.

ask the council what they do with the old ones they rip and replace with tarmac
