Hi, ive just got a new grande punto t-jet and im looking to take out GAP insurance and was just looking for some advice on my quote.

What should i select as my RTI GAP Settlement value, £5000 or £10000.Not quite sure whether it matters which i go for as the prcie doesnt rise too much when i go for £10000.

Just looking for some general advice on it as well and if people think its worth doing?

personally i havent bothered with this ever. i take it this is the insurance where it will pay out the difference between what insurer pays out and what you owe when you wrap up the car?

My dealings are as follows. I crashed a new car while the finance was running, only had it 6 months. The insurer tried to write it off, and give me £5500. I told them i wasnt happy with their offer as to buy the same car again the price was the same as 6 months ago, and that was about £7500- £8500 (i got mine knocked down to £7200 from £8500when buying) and i needed to clear finance. This is what happened next. They agreed the car should be worth £7500+ therefore they would have paid this out and up to my loan settlement figure, but then it became economical to repair so i got it repaired as the report showed no structural damage to the car.

You may find your insurer will offer the service automatically. Discovered this with Direct Line who gave me one year GAP cover for no extra cost.
