Lucky?

Right today i was out on my bike, got down the road and a lorry was manouvering in the middle of the road so i braked but i must have slipped on a wet patch or something as the front wheel just slid out from under me and slid down the road Would you say im lucky that i didnt hit the lorry.

Anyone else had accidents due to avoiding a worse accident?

Re: Lucky?

I would have said that was lucky, I personally haven't had any minor accidents to avoid a major, but can think I might happen often and is probably preferable.

Re: Lucky?

I did the opposite...

I had a van pull out on me and take out the front wheel of my bike, i swerved to avoid continuing into said van and ended up hitting the back of a porcshe They said the thing that saved my life was the fact his convertible roof gave way. Spent a week in intensive and a further week on ward. Bloody van driver drove off, turned out it was stolen

MIB paid for my injuries though, which covered the bike

I don't like near misses, but believe they are a must have, because it shakes one up and sometimes makes one think harder.

I've lost two, but not my fault as it happened twice on same road, where other driver should have given way to me as I was coming up-hill.

lol. Dad and I are forever reversing into each others Panda's on the drive. Thing is, he doesn't know when I've reversed into his, but I know when he does it to mine because the Alarm goes off. I then moan at him, because hes got a TowBar which one day will crack the number plate.

Re: Lucky?

I had a few near misses in the seicento, none in the starlet or the clio though. Only crash I've been in was in my m8s car.

Re: Lucky?

Had near misses like when I braked hard as I hadn't spotted the speed camera and locked the wheels and cut the engine out and was heading for a hedge Problem with that near miss is I thought it was fun. I prefer near misses where I bounce off the curb slightly now and then cos they make me pay more attention.

I'd say I'm very lucky, even coming off my bike it could have been so much worse than it was. Few hundred quid of damage and some bad bruising. Luckily my bike went in front of me and would have taken the impact of any cars before they saw me lying in the road.

At the end of the day if you're still alive you're doing ok.

Re: Lucky?

Only problem i've had is where someone else had nearly killed me by driving like a braindead c***. I have then engaged in road rage with said a**hole I realised how stupid I was being after 10 seconds pulled over and challenged him to a dual without using cars lol. He then backed off pissing his pants, probably because I was carrying a 2foot long Flat head screwdriver

I'm the opposite. I do enjoy a good bit of roadrage, but back down when the other person gets out of their vehicle. Its only happened once with a Taxi. He over took. Stopped and got out. I then looked ahead, saw the lights were green, put my foot to the floor (thank god for Automatics having kick-down) and left him. Was then panacking for the next couple of days whenever I saw a black cab.

Didn't think he'd get out, because I could have easily taken his lisence datails from this plate things taxi's have and reported him, sort of, even though I was egging him on
