How many people on here have a 'N' Series Nokia & don't understand the barcode reader

Hi all. I have an N95 and under the Office folder in the menu there is some software called Barcode. It took me ages to realise that its not normal barcodes it reads.

Its these types of barcodes!


Open the 'Barcode' application on your Nokia and point the camera at the code and it will show you a secret message I have written!

Simply amazing.

I thought it also opened normal ones if you typed them in yourself to tell it what it should mean

for businesses n that

At least it worked on your phone aswell. Apparently they use them alot abroad in countrys like Korea. So not much use to us. lol.

Still fun to play about with though.

thats what my dads does i dont know if it will reed that
dads is n95 i think

You see them everywhere in Japan.

Pretty much every product will have a code to go to the website.

Also in video arcade games - if you get a high score or something it will put the barcode on the screen which you can snap with your phone to go to the special website

Not really seen them out here in Taiwan so much ... but Japan, def... EVERYWHERE

im sure they are used to find information of the barcode you are reading in some instances i have an n95 and will read ur code now lol

Your dads N95 should read that one. I can't get my N95 to read normal barcodes though.

Thats cool! I have an N95 and have spent ages trying to get the little things on it to work properly!!

My N73 doesn't have a barcode reader in the office bit.

But it does crash, switch itself off etc so I guess it's not all bad :spin:

the invelos site has an app that uses it to quick scan your dvd collection in, very handy

didnt work most times but i went to it and waited and held it for ages i just got numbers tho which i guess was the code of the barcode in nokia talk didn't match barcode i don't think

My first N95 went back within 48hours because it crashed everytime I went into the menu or used the camera, this one only crashes once in a blue moon, which I can live with. I don't mind, because I think they're amazing concidering what they're capable of doing.

My HTC has it, so its not exclusive to people with the inferior nokias.
