Re: neons

They are illegal to drive with them on. You wont get points for them (£30 fine). And as for them turning around.... depends if they have better things to deal with or not!

Re: neons

I think it depends where they are situated in your car.

In the footwells yes, as long as they dont look like they are a police cars lights so to speak.

Re: neons

If they are in the footwells (inside the car) then they are 100% LEGAL. I thought you meant outside under car neons.

Re: neons

Really wanted under car neons. Found a great kit that can react to the sound systems. But last thing I want is my licence ban...

Re: neons

Best you read up on the Road Traffic Act as I did.

There are Regulations on Lights, Mainly Colour and Placement.

Having White Neons/LEDs mounted at the front end of your vehicle is NOT illegal.

Having Red Neons/LEDs at the rear of your vehicle is NOT illegal.

Having Amber Neons/LEDs to the left and right of your vehicle is NOT illegal providing they only illuminate as Indicators.

Interior Neons/LEDs are illegal depending on placement. If they can be seen by other motorists they are illegal. If they can "distract" you they are illegal.

So as long as interior ones are out of sight they are fine. Footwells, Dash, Boot etc.

NO BLUE LIGHTS (Working or not) TO BE FITTED ON THE EXTERIOR OF ANY VEHICLE THAT IS NOT USED FOR POLICE BUSINESS.

NO AMBER BEACONS UNLESS USED FOR HIGHWAY RELATED BUSINESS (I think)

NO GREEN LIGHTS UNLESS USED FOR MEDICAL BUSINESS.

But in life we make choices. You can have your license endorsed with points and face a mini fine. Regardless of this, I have had blue lights fitted to my vehicle. It is up to you at the end of the day.

Re: neons

its not illegal to have them on the car but its illegal to use them on the highway/road, you can use them all you want on private property or non highway usage.

my mate has em on his 4x4 and uses them off roading, good for when your in the dark and good for scaring your mates

Re: neons

It all depends on what the Police are like in your area like sum1 sed before it depends on if they have better things to do or not. But they are like many things you are likely to be stopped and they will advise you to turn them off like they will stop you and advise you to stop speeding. But each area will have fluctuating tollerances at the end of the day if you live in a sleepy town with bored officers you are less likely to get awy with the smaller crimes, but if like me you live in Crack/Smack Central you are more likely to get away with it.
So if you do put them on the outside just make sure that you have a completely otherwise legal car so they wont sting you with a P14.

Re: neons

Re: neons

I've spoke to several police about this issue. Its all about distraction. If they would distract you or other people they are illegal. But only on the public road. If clearly off the road, parked up, they are ok.
