basicaly I want to see how fast my standard punto will go
and i want to do it of the road so im legal

I think it will top out at about 90 mph (internet says)
while my mate thinks it will thrash his car which he says he can get up to 108mph

its a standard mk2 punto 8 valve

any ideas of places around leeds what i can do it?

Any airfields nearby?

what about the one at york, or there is a disused one up the road from me at pollington.

Dont believe what the manufacturers quote as a top speed, my micra went way faster then its quoted speed.

i had my old 60S punto up tp 109mph but later found i nackered the engine lol sooo not worth doing really lol

109mph :D

Did you take that speed from your speedo or the speed reading you can get from sat navs and other things? If the reading was from your speedo, your true speed was probably more like 103/104, maybe less.
I use a sat nav in my Marea sometimes, when my speedo reads 70;) the reading on the sat nav is 66/67. On a flat, straight road the speed reading from a sat nav will be more accurate than your speedo.

yeh of my navman F20 satnav 109mph i was shocked lol not bad for a mk1 60S lol got rid of it now like engine wasnt the same after that haha lol

That's good for a Mk1 60s, shame about the engine. I've done 110 on a German autobahn in my Marea 20V, had to slow down for my exit. Even at that speed there were Germans in their BMW's and Mercs coming past me.

Is that it... a 20v should be good for 130mph (y). I had 135mph out my Alfa 156 2.0TS (Sat nav reading) said 141mph on speedo :bang:.

you dont need a track or private road to do 90mph, that isnt even fast enough for the BMW lane on the motorway :p

if the book figure is 90mph you should hit 100mph easily enough. book figures are always under. dont use your speedo, its very inaccurate, you need gps to get an accurate figure.

Lol.

Certain SatNav's arent accurate until you have held a speed for a certain amount of time.

For instance in the coupe, i can drop it at 40mph and hit 130 by the end of 4th and the tom tom is still showing like 100mph. It does catch up quickly tho and flat out in top gear it changes quick enough.

I've had 157mph gps in the coupe but by that point i had showed a 2 litre corsa with supposedly 380bhp who was boss ;)
