Updated the Attendance list, it's now in the top part of the info box, and you can choose to add just yourself, or you and up to 4 extra people..... any comments, or can I now mark that job as closed?

Just found this thread after seeing some changes in the Yorkshire Meet thread... WOW Ben.. That's about the best bit of the forum at the moment. Makes arranging and attending meets about as easy as it gets. Top work fella!

I wated two and a half minutes for the google part of the page to load (the FF bit loaded in seconds) and it still wasn't anywhere close to loading the map, so as usual with these speed/ usability issues, sorry, not going back, exceptionally poor first impression. That means I saw no events at all bar the little list at the bottom by the way.

I also think it might put people off some events. Let's say I was a new user in Carlisle and I hadn't know what the Skegness do was all about. I'd never have clicked on a bubble in Skegness, but if I saw up-front it was the forum's annual weekender, I would have been far more tempted to click and see what was going on.

Not a bad idea, but not in its current form.

Strange　- the map is obviously outside my control, its loaded directly from google - but I`ve never had such a long wait.... the flip side of the argument of course is if you didn:t know where somewhere was, you might ignore it, but if you can see it:s near you .....

But the list under the map directs you to the event thread. Plus with the skeggy title having annual meet in am sure people would look, and see it on the forum board anyway

I know you don't control Google Ben , but my point was that we're using it and therefore it is part of the site. If the map doesn't load, there should be something in its place and the current tiny list doesn't suffice. You just don't pay attention to it - can it be made far more prominent?

Edit- it's loading in a minute now, and is actually loading. But if I were new, I wouldn't have gone back to check that. And there's no events planned within a two-and-a-half hour drive of me, ever. So again, if I were new, I wouldn't be going back

Very odd, it loads in about 5 seconds for me (on a new computer to my usual). Aside from that, do you have any suggestions on making it easier to use - i;m all ears.

On a side note, even in my incredibly drunken state, I;ve still managed to get the +1,+2 etc as a nice drop down menu, making everything look infinitely better....

I:m now off to finish the bottle of vodka and go karaoke....

I'm not on dial-up, but both my ISP and BT have informed me faster BB isn't coming to Houghton any time soon. However that's a moot point, the FF bit loaded fine, it was the google bit that was slow (perhaps bad time, maintenance work or whatever, I tried it a few times and same response, it is faster now). Just cooking dinner so will put some thought to it later.......

I personally have never had a problem with it loading, but could be and most likely is googles end for maintenance or high site traffic etc. as you said

Don't you think it's a definate improvement on the Events section though?
