just while your on ben,is there a reason why the forum is set so you have ot hit quick reply to use the quick reply box rather than it being active?
just ive been on another forum lately that has the box open all the time though it uses different software

Yeah, the forum can run in more than one mode - this is the "linear" mode where each post comes one after the other.

You can however use "Hybrid" where replies can be made to individual posts, and then split from there. So for example, if someone posts something in post3, you can reply directly to that. If you are then browsing in Hybrid mode, you will see how it all links up...

Of course, I don't think anyone actually uses that... so could just turn it off.... :chin:

I played around with Hybrid mode when we moved over to vB - I now stick to Linear

Hmmm, looks like it hasn't fully worked on the Archive/PDA version of the site.

It gets so far through the headings, but as soon as you click on a thread, it resorts back to the main site thread, with all the graphics, etc.

not too sure about this new posts lark find it hard to pop on just scan through new posts and reset it all, is there a button we can use to reset our new posts to mark them all "read" or anything?

No it's supposed to do that, I can switch it normal mode - but tbh, i didn't think anyone ever used it.... I didn't want the search engines archiving the "archive"...

Great - I am sure it worked before OK, I used it quite a lot when out and about and at home on the wifi, now I won't bother logging in anymore from it

Ok chaps, converted back to old method - you can now browse using archive mode, but you need to click the "PDA" link at the top the first time you go to the archive page - if you don't, pages will redirect to the full versions (for the benefits of search engines)

Why? The orange ones are to show that the post is more popular, the green just showed new post / no indication of how many....?

because at a glance, they look too much like red ones and tbh - you can tell a topic has lots of replies because.. it has lots of replies and pages!

yep with arc on this one green was alot better why need to know if it s hot topic by color you can just look at the replie count

Hot post isn't just replies, it uses thread views as well (so one reply, but 180 views would be hot for example...)

But ok, I'll look at making it a bit more "orange"

or just green, with i dunno, a flame on them.. but mostly green?
