i'd leave it as fiatforum!! or if you plan to expand then do some clever linking and make the title depend on the domain and have both

FIATExchange could be a good business move if you are intending to expand the commercial part of this forum. I quite like FIATForum so a cross link would be nice and I think still relevant for the 'forum' part of the site.

You should in any case keep a FIATForum link for at least a year to stop you from losing all the existing links out there.

Ok, well I'm mucking around with logos at the moment, so dont be suprised if everything keeps changing.

Will keep FIATForum on, and will change the top logo to that whenever you are in the forums, everything will be part of the FIATExchange group though to keep it all in one entity.

So, up and coming you will see :

1. The completion of the Buy / Sell (Nigel I think I get what you are talking about, so will try and make it as simple as possible!)
2. The setup of the advertising section (all the banners and what not, instead of one I'm just using as an example)
3. The FIAT buying guide, which will then be able to link in with the Buy / Sell and also allow a user to specify which car model they have.
4. A 'link exchange' type FIAT network, where any site related to FIAT can submit their link to the database here and put a banner on their site which will link to a random FIAT site. You will of course also be able to list all from here.
5. The recent idea of a 'features' section is also pretty good, and I will look into it.

Everything however will revolve around the forum login, (which will in reality just be a website login) so everything will be kept in one place...

No offence but the name 'Fiat exchange' sounds a bit like a seedy dating agency for fans of Fiat. Especially with the bright red ' X ' in the middle of the logo. Whats wrong with Fiat Forum? Cant see a problem with it, if its expanding then is the domain still going to be fiatforum.com? Why not just keep Fiat Forum and when it expands, which it no doubt will, then people will just get to know that Fiat Forum doesnt just mean its a forum.

Just me 2p worth!

Ben, please don't take this the wrong way, but I really can't see why you need to change the name at all. The Fiat Forum at the moment is a group of really friendly people who love their Fiats. Nice, cosy and safe

Two things make me uneasy: the words "business" and "commercial". I can't quite see where this is heading. I'm already cringing with the introduction of the Amazon banner ad [V]

And put it this way - any sites with "popup" ads I avoid like the plague ...

Unfortunately I need to start making some money somewhere, since the site explosion, that bandwidth has gone through the roof, going well over my allowed 2gig per month (at preset, we're currently on about 15!!!) and donations are pretty low, so its costing quite a bit.

I hate popups, dont worry, they wont be coming on, but some fairly unobtrusive adverts that can bring in a few pennies, i don't see an issue with that, but yes, certainly nothing that will detract from the sites useability.

OK then, I'll remove the exchange bit, we can leave that for the buying and selling parts and when viewing the forums, you will get the fiatforum logo (any more submissions for that btw, oh and without car pictures, text only (but with shapes) would be alot better) whilst browsing the forums.

I still want to bring everything together though into a sort of community, whilst forum just implies a forum....

hmmm.. actually, ahah, i know, i've got it (and you lot had better approve, or this is going to get pretty expensive! lol)

The name for the main site (with all the other names kept intact, i'll use exchange for the buy and sell, forum for the forums and chat for the chat), seeing as we basically all are already...

Non commercial, kinda depicts what we all are anyway, and can combine everything. I might even offer email addresses out...

Just a quick word on the adverts...Isnt there any way that the adverts could be car related? That way, you could have a section with adverts, so that if anyone needed any thing car related (i.e to buy things..) they can just go to that section? Just a thought anyway.

Is there anyway you could set the forum up with mirror sites or at least host portions of it (i.e the exchange and mart type stuff)?

I get 250Mb of webspace and a 250Mb per day traffic allowance from my ISP so would be happy to donate some if it will help...

TBH, I'm confused as heck now, FiatForum.com will stay, and always will point directly to the forums (FiatJunkie.com/Forum) and keeps its FF logo. FiatJunkie.com will encapsulate everything into one (being the main page) but allows everything to expand and not be limited to just a forum.

FiatChat.com will now point to FiatJunkie.com/Chat (or will do when i fix it) and I'll keep FiatExchange for the Buying/Selling bit (which will then go direct again).

So basically (after all that and i use the word basic!) FF will stay as the FF, but the rest of the site (when i make it) will be tagged as FJ (although all will be mirrored by ff anyway to keep it high in the search engines...)

Everyone happy with that? [xx(]

Yuk,I don't like FiatJunkie, I guess I don't identify myself with that. To me, FiatForum is just fine and I think this one appeals to more people. If the site expands, why don't you name it "FiatCentral" and this can then encapsulate the good old FiatForum and also the new coming stuff.

Just my thoughts, wish you'll find the best solution.
