Anybody here who is about 20, drive a lowered/modified car? If so, who's your insurance and what's it cost? I've been searching as mine is up for renewal, and I can make hefty savings, which is goooood!

But. I want to make modifications.
I've found ones that don't mind me adding alloy wheels, but the second I go near the suspension they refuse the insurance.

I see enough people driving about my age with lowered cars. So who are they with? Are they declared? Or are they paying ££££££££s for it?

Thanks!

Hi,
Please feel free to give us a try for insurance if you like. If you wanted to PM me some contact details I'd be happy to arrange for one of my quotes team to give you a call back.
Regards,
Dan.

You don't declare the modifications.

Just say you're driving a stock car, nobody checks anyway.
If you get into an accident, they replace the car with stock parts.
You might lose out on $2k tops of modifications, but you'll also save $200 a month.
200 x 12 = $2400
Drive a year without an accident, and you've already saved past your expense.

That is incredibly bad advice!

If you're caught your insurance is invalidated - which is like driving with no insurance...6 points, fine and potential loss of car!!

Either return the car to stock for a year or two, or suck it up, lube uo and take it like a man!

they do in the uk, regular mass clampdowns happen often, police and other government agencies take over a car park and stop vehicles on roads nearby, any that they think are not right get directed to the carpark, police then ring insurance and if mods not declared give a ticked there and then for no insurance.

It's probably true that a lot don't declare modifications. Can't think all these kids are either rich enough to pay insane prices or simply they just don't declare.

I'm looking at getting some nice wide wheels, so that'll probably draw police attention. And knowing my luck I'd do the mods, and get bumped coming out the drive.
Seems too risky. Just gonna wait and try again next year! Got my alloys for free on there, so that's half the battle!

Very poor advice :nono:

I live in NYC, USA.

So for us it doesn't matter. Nobody checks our cars, and at checkpoints they just check your driver license, and see if you're drunk.

Maybe it's different elsewhere

The OP's avatar clearly shows they're in the UK though. I'm sure many wish it's the same here as in the U.S.A. though. :(
