So on the 17th i brought a new car, i went on avivas website and got up my saved quote for the exact same car (WPXXXX) and brought the insurance! Yay!

But in my haste i forgot to change the start date (hurdurrr no big issue) from the 31/10 to 17/10 so i rang them up to change the date, they couldnt change the date because it was out of the 10 days that they allow a date to be changed.

So the lady on the phone said she would cancel the current policy and just make a new one, which you would think was straight forward as all she has to do is copy the information over, i even told her the registration number twice and she also read it back to me to confirm.

All was sorted and my car was ready to go, skip 2 weeks and 1000miles later i go on avivas website to print of the policy to keep safe in my paper work

Low and behold a different fiat bravo is insured (VEXXXX)!

How the **** did she manage to do that! Yes that other bravo was on my previous quotes when i was shopping around, like seriously how is that even possible!

I cant even ring to sort it out, i feel pretty sick and angry that this has happened.

I get that i should have "checked" on the website a few days after but why should i, cant i trust the person im speaking to on the other end of the phone?

/rant over :bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

Rang them up today to sort it, took 15mins to sort it out.

turns out the first lady was i expected had ****ed it all up to begin with, after changing my policy to the car that i own the premium would go up by £87 so as a good will gesture they waived as it was a massive balls up there end!

All in all im glad that its sorted but should never have happened!

So you're not human and never make mistakes (like setting the wrong inception date origonally). They've sorted it and with no cost to yourself. Issue sorted, don't make a mountain out of a mole hill, this you'll probably find happens daily with every insurance company, it's how they resolve the issue that matters, and as far as I can see they've done it with a satisfactory result.

Ultimately had anything of happened you'd have been covered as advised on the phone, this is why calls are recorded, and also why you pay more on the phone than online. An online balls up and it's on your head, telephone balls up by an advisor and what you've been advised will be honoured ;)
