Declaring

Hi mate,

Iv just declared alloys on my car and they have taken £150 extra for them.

When i asked for justification "no matter how expensive or how big your alloys are, as soon as you modify your car from standard, i.e. what it came with, you are putting yourself in the 'people who modify their cars' crowd".

Im sure you can work out for yourself what she meant, to me that is wrong, but to us, that is reality :(

Not all insurers view things that way, some actually prefer modified cars (y)

I think more as in 'people who spend more money on their cars are more likely to take care of them'. Tbh though, that probably only really applies to the 21+ enthusiast crowd though, rather than the 17 yr old 'jst past mi tst an ganna put a phat bodykit an rimz on mi Corsa blud' ...

:ROFLMAO: Spot on matey!

Yep you have done very well for me. As has been said, people like myself are enthusiastic about our cars and are more likely to look after them.

Good to hear, thank you. I've said it before but we are surprised by how few Fiat Forum members call us for quotes on their modifed/performance Fiats..

I know its a PITA but simply having a presence on the actual forums makes a huge difference for traders. You can see above it has got you at least one quote. (y)
Its one thing having a trade area and another to be seen on the forum.

On the subject of declaring, My BiL's told me about his mate who has just demolished a £40k car. Despite having fully comp insurance, his ins co are refusing to pay out as he didn't declare the 3 points on his licence from a speeding ticket he got mid term - he reckoned he was going to declare it at the next renewal. Oh well, live and learn - shame he had to learn the hard way.
