Just sorted out the renewal on my Fiat 500... but with Chris Knott.

I also have a classic car which I have insured with Adrian Flux for the past 5 years. This year, in February when the policy arrived, I was disappointed to find that if I wanted an agreed value on my car, I would have to pay an extra £10 (10% extra on the policy!). I called and queried this (it wasn't mentioned when I accepted the quote) and was told that it was a new charge which had just been brought in. I appreciate this doesnt apply to those of you buying newer Fiats etc, but I thought it was a bit of a sneaky thing to do.

I also had to have the policy resent to me 3 times because each time it arrived it had incorrect details on it.

I have kind of lost faith in Adrian Flux because of this so I don't think i'll be using you again.

Hi Chrome500,
I was sorry to hear about your experience with us. Unfortunately we do have to charge the £10 for the optional Agreed Value to cover administration costs. You should have been informed about this when you took the policy out and also on in the paperwork. If this was not the case, I do apologise.

Just tried to renew my tax disc online and DVLA says i'm not insured... as my policy was taken out in February, is this likely to be DVLA's fault or somebody at Adrian Flux?

Hi there,
It may well be that the Insurer has not transmitted the details to the MID database or the MID have not put you on there. I'd like to look into this for you so please feel free to PM me your customer reference number. I can then call the Insurer to definately check all is ok our end.

Is it true that there is a fine for insurance companies who don't do this within 'X' amount of time after a policy is taken out

Would/could is cause the car to come up as uninsured on ANPR that the police use if not on MID?

I understand that there are strict regulations for the insurance company (not a broker like us) to submit details to the MID.

An insurance company's failure to submit details could give the Police the impression that the vehicle is uninsured. However the MID is not a definitive source for insured vehicles and as a result the Police should not rely solely on it to establish if a vehicle is being insured. The MID is an aide to assist with identify uninsured vehicle and the Police should follow-up any suspicions by contacting the insurer.

it all depends on your circumstances I was with them for years when i was younger and had a modified Ford Cortina (showing my age now ) but when i got the panda which was standard the quote was high and i want elsewhere. Im now back with them with the cinquecento which is modified and on agreed value the primium is half what some of the other major company's quoted and the cover is great they agreed the value of £1500 and should the worst happen i get to keep the salvage for spares.
BEWARE of being under insured its so easy to pay a lower premium for your pride and joy and then should you need to claim find out that by the time you have paid your excess you end up with very little and they may take whats left of your car been there got the tee shirt
whish i knew about this 15% when i renewed though ill defo be asking next year!

Damn wish i knew about this back in June when i renewed.

Saying that been with Adrian Flux now for a number of years now and never had any problems with them and they've always been able to supply the lowest quote.

Hi there Dan, if youre still on the forums that is Im currently with Adrian Flux, took out a policy about a month ago for my first car and was wondering what the 15% discount is for? Ive already ahd a couple of discounts for Pass Plus and doing "white collar" subjects at college, was jsut wondering how Id get the 15% as well

I can not see why not, they may of even already given you a discount as they will ask at quote stage if you a member of a ownersclub etc, but i will certainly check this out for you.

Do i get 2 discounts with adrian flux? My college gets a discount aswell, did a qoute for next years insurance last week and i think it was the cheapest i found, not sure if it had the discount on it though. Renewel isnt for a while but was just checking.

Dan, do you do classic car insurance? I've a 1993 Panda that I'm wanting to insure as a weekend car and will only be doing abut 3000 miles a year in.
