I was just looking for opinions on the pro's & con's of paying monthly versus paying in one lump sum ??

Also, having to pay my insurance in one lump sum in December obviously isn't the best of times, so what are people's opinions on getting temporary insurance for maybe up to 2 months ?? Is the cover you get just as comprehensive as a full-term contract ?? (although asking this comparing to my current ecar insurance is a joke !!) Any experiences with temporary insurance would be appreciated, especially if you've been in the unfortunate situation of having to claim

Oh, driving a Cinq Sporting with at least a Magnex style back box, not had time to climb underneath for closer inspection !! Driving for 2 years come renewal so 2 years NCB (y)

Sorry for the novel !!

Con; Monthly cost alot more than in one lump sum (£200 more for me if I were to do it, but paid £1280.04 upfront)

Pro; Ideal if your rubbish with managing money

Con; if your payment bounces your insurance can be void and you can be driving around illegally without knowing it.

I had the same problem .... renewal in december is just the best month ever!

I have got a 10month bonus accelerator insurance starting 15th december so next year it will be October.

I was going to pay mine upfront halfway through last years insurance ... there was around £1300 via monthly they cut it down to £1000 if i paid it all up

This years I've had to do monthly payments as i seemed to have spent all my money (well the female in my life did that for me) although I am going to pay it in full in Jan

Is it possible for you to get a credit card with 0% interest for 12 months, pay for it all at once, and the money that you would be spending to pay monthly, just pay that off. Could save you some money if you are thinking of paying monthly.

temporary insurance is just that temporary, to get you by, its no where near as good of cover as a pay monthly qoute or one lump sum qoute etc

whats been your trouble with ecar? i have nothing but praise from them and so do others? 3 years ive been with them and not had to ring them (touch wood)

It's not really a problem to pay it all up front, I've already saved for it. I think I would prefer to pay it like that then as mentioned, if a payment is missed, you're not driving around without cover, hence asking about temporary insurance to move it along a couple of months.

I don't really have a problem with ecar, been with them from the start. They were the cheapest but if you look closely at the excesses, they seem a bit high ??

Now ... when I bought this Cinq in July, I had my dad make the changes to the policy so I could drive it home however I didn't mention the fact at that time that it had this aftermarket exhaust & the tinted back windows. A bit pointless making a change now as it only has a few days left to the policy.

Ecar also do a pay as you go modified insurance which I may go for just for a couple of months but how would this affect NCD ?? As in, would I just have a complete 3 years NCD in February 2010 if I started an anual policy in February ?? Sorry, confused !!
