Insurance due again

It's nearly upon me again, insurance renewal that is. As i will be on holiday this year i thought i would get some early quotes see what comes up.

Age: 36
7 years (this year) NCB
No convictions
No Accidents
Car - GPS
Living in Liverpool

My insurance started with my stilo 1.6 16v active aircon last year, £360 for the year, July -> July, switched to GPS, and paid an extra £35, so, total insurance cost £395, this is with Equity Red Star.

Tried the following so far:

Comaprethemarket
confused
Gocompare
einsurance (or something like that, seen it on here)
Lloyds tsb and a few others.

Cheapest so far is Directline £494 with everything, including £100 excess
Dearest was £1295 WTF!!!

Do insurance companies just make these figures up or what, i mean come on, im 36 FFS full ncb, no accidents or convictions

Even diret lines £494 is still $hit given i have another year NCB.

Insurance companies Biggest bloody legal rip off ever.

I will be phoning my insurance company tomorrow to see if they can give me an advanced quote.

Re: Insurance due again

Just phoned Chris Knott thinking i would get a good deal, how wrong was i.

Save 10% on your car insurance, what a load of crap.

£650 WTF!!

I did quote Fiat Forum and he said anyone living in the postcode area of L (Liverpool) have been blanked by the insurance companies because too many people claimed last year. So i'm discriminated against, legally too i might add, by the insurance companies, even though i have not had any claims in the last 7 years.

So, anyone living in Liverpool don't bother phoning Chris Knott, you won't get it any cheaper.

The bloke i spoke to was nice and sympathetic though.

Time to go to Direct Line i think, even though i will be paying £100 more.

Thanks Jimboy.

Just tried them, they quoted me £738

I have just been back on to my current insurers, and asked if they could beat direct lines quote. I have to give them 10 out of 10 for trying, three times they came up with a better price, but they charge 13% for paying monthly, which is wrong in my eyes, your being charged because you can't afford to pay it off in one go, wrong, wrong, wrong, they eventually came down to £476 and took off the cost for legal cover, giving it me for free basically, but the 13% charge still meant i was paying more monthly than direct line, who don't charge you for paying monthly.

I have saved my quote with direct line, and i'm going to give it till the end of the week, and if i don't come up with anything better, which i don't believe i will, then i will be going with Direct Line.

Yeah tried confused and always end up coming off that website even more confused than when i went on it tbh, they never ever actually manage to get me anything decent There was a tesco one which made me laugh, blimey i thought, that's reasonable at just over £500, it was a no frills one, basically £575 excess, no protected ncb or nothing like that, avoided it like the plague.

I have one more company to try before i go with direct line, Roland Smith, was with them once a very long time ago.

Insurance company last year, they said your renewal premium has gone up because crime has gone up in your area Load of bull. Crime figures were published two days later, and they announce crime had gone down. Shows you how much crap they give you.

Good luck with your insurance when it's due

Unhappy Re: Insurance due again

Yes, even though the affiliation with Fiat Forum has been a success, there are certain postcodes (mainly L & M) where the insurers have made such a loss, they stipulate we cannot quote in these areas.

Angry Re: Insurance due again

Tim.S - thanks for your reply mate.

Oh jesus christ, this insurance crap just gets better and more frigging laughable the more websites i go to

Ok here's what just happened.

Got one of those spam leaflets through the door for Co-operative, low and behold they don't appear to have my car on their website, they have everything else by the looks of things

Swift cover, get a quote in 60 seconds, so they say, bloody idiots, put all the details in hit the go get quote button (or whatever they call it) and comes back with this:

"Quote Unavailable Unfortunately the details you have entered mean we cannot provide you with cover."

Friggin insurance, I think i'll give up

EDIT: Discriminated against by insurance companies because i live in Liverpool. They should come and live in my street, it's that quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Thanks for that Ziggy

Just got a quote from them, and at first it looked good, only for a minute though, it came back at £451, add on protected ncb, legal cover, and guaranteed car hire, oh yeah, and drop the voluntary from £350 to £150, add on the 22.8 % apr charge for taking out monthly payments, and it soon jumps up to £666.

I'll phone them but i ddon't think they will beat that quote from direct line, but no harm in trying

Just phoned Roland Smith. He asked what prices i have had so far, so i told him about direct lines price. When he came back with the price he just said, i won't waist your time as the prices are coming out too high, even with the excess quite high, over £600.

Looks like i will be going with Direct Line then

Thank you to everyone who replied

Thanks misssporty

Not for me though, they wanted £666 and charge 22.8 % APR for taking out monthly payments. I would phone them as they say they guarantee to beat any quote, but tbh i don't think they will beat direct lines £495. If Churchill were close to direct line's figure then i would phone them, but they're not even close.

Thanks anyway hun
