Re: insurance for young drivers ?

Pass plus could say you a small fortune!! Contact your local police/council because a lot of them will pay towards the pass plus scheme. One department up here were offering to pay half for me (although I didnt bother - didnt have a motor at the time). Your driving instructor would be able to give you details of the organisation that can offer it at reduced cost. Sounds like a good idea though with your insurance being so high.

Re: insurance for young drivers ?

Fiat panda 1.1 - around 56 quid a month with both parents on (18 years old) - directline including no claims discount when I was provisional.
Paying £25 myself a month as my dad uses it for work when I'm off college. (the car practically pays for itself at times)

With pass plus, won't penalties go up?

Re: insurance for young drivers ?

on my little 2000 X Reg 1.2 8v punto :P with a provisional licence

1607 with churchill
However i had put Legal cover on with that

If i didnt put that on it was 1585

Quinn Direct are cheaper to be on with as a learner but soon as u pass there like 2000ish.... not good....

I'd rather pay more as a learner when im going to pass soon and not pay any-more

Ziggy

Re: insurance for young drivers ?

Man I remember when I first passed (19 years old). My premium was £1,600 and I was litterally crying as each month passed, and a direct debit payment was taken!

I'm now 23, same car (1.2 8v - but modded and looks exactly like a sporting (interior, and exterior)) and my premium was £670 this year.
I'm glad I'm slowly becoming an old fart ... but only for this reason lol!

Re: insurance for young drivers ?

I'm 18, full license, with a 1.2 '99 60S, and I was quoted €1895 (approx. £1400)from Quinn - Third Part Fire & Theft. It works out at €592 if my Dad insures the car with me as a named driver..Fully Comp!

not bad tbh
Your 21 and first car
waiting 3 years it's already shaved off about £400ish

Wait till next year keep the insurance clean and its gonna be around 650 - 750

650-750 will be alright!! Need to stay clean though!!

Most of my quotes were £2000+. Tesco fully comp was £4500!!! HAHA My car is only worth £2k

Adrian Flux was best for me by far!.

Re: insurance for young drivers ?

Not bad.

Must say, my earlier post refering to my premiums thought I'd mention that I am fully comp, no third party poo because I don't understand the use of it fully?

A few years with clean insurance and the price will dramatically drop, just got to grin and bare it for the first 2 or 3 years.

Re: insurance for young drivers ?

Fully comp is much better, but its not an option for most new drivers (like myself)
